Riven help
I picked up riven when i first started the game and got reckt, now i want to pick her up again and get good. Any tips for how to play her and ticks of the trade?

take advantage of her passive by Auto ing after almost every spell. Example would be E Q AA Q AA W AA Q AA and you will have done tons of damage.
weave autos in and get used to her i guess?

I used to be a riven main through late season 2 to early season 4. I dropped here after bruiser top lane faded out and tank top lane became dominant. I'm pretty rusty with her but I do have a good understanding of how to play her and how to play against her here's some tips.
A big part of riven is cancelling your aa's and spell animations with your other spells. For an example when your ulting you'll notice there's a delay when your activating your buff. If you valor(e) right as your ulting you'll cancel that animation and can jump the target much faster. I believe you can also cancel riven's aa animation with your q which leads to some really fast burst.
Quick question what lane are you playing riven? I used to play riven top lane but this really isn't optimal as before. When I played riven top it was in a time where bruisers and assasin top was popular both of which riven does very well against. However riven struggles against tanks which is why I stopped playing her. The two lanes where you should pay riven are top and mid. Top isn't as good in the current tank meta cause tanks like maoki and cho gath can just stack armor and destroy you. I personally thinks she's better in the mid lane right now. She has much better roaming potential and more favorable matchups than top.
A big part of riven is practice, contrary to what everyone say about her being faceroll she's a very high skill cap champion. I played her for quite a long time and I'm not even that good at her. Just keep practicing until you get the hang of her. I'll leave a link to a more detailed guide to her that i used when I played her.
