Who are some good counters to assassins to learn? Or at least champ that deal with them mid?

AP Cho'Gath mid is goddamn terrifying
A competent Cho'gath is goddamn terrifying.
Exhaust

(depending on the assasin.)For more Tank like champs that can work well mid vs assasins and can go Ap-bruiser

More Fighter like Champs:

However, most of the off-meta picks can screw your teamcomp, and most of the fighters aswell as some tanks rely on useing the lane-advantage for strong roams or they fall off.
Can confirm, all of these give me AIDS. -Salty Talon Player experiences
They are my go-to champ when afraid of some assassins.
are good vs leblanc
If you pick
, it's wise not to always ult the enemy champ. You better ult yourself against
death mark than him.
These champions tend to fair rather well against assassins and are (fairly) common mid-laners.

If you don't mind playing an assassin(-ish) champion yourself, then this champion works rather well against many of them due to her burst damage and durability.

Old
was a gas mid lane against assassins. Not sure how he'd fare now, though.
's one of the strongest anti-assassin picks for mid or top. His consistent poke and damage, natural tankiness from buildpath, and his ult completely negates any assassin trying to all-in you. I highly suggest trying him. Only assassin I probably wouldn't pick him into would be Leblanc and maaaaybe Kat? I'm not too familiar with their numbers and kits post-rework, so I can't say for sure.
Traditionally,

Situationally
(generally relies on some sort of AS + On-Hit item being broken in that particular patch)
(not against someone who has kill threat + enough sustained damage to just pop your passive and kill you through egg)
Generally just someone with instant point-and-click Hard CC, invulnerability/reliable revive, or both.
Best assassin counter there is
Just imo so don't quote me but I see,
Doing well, also
and
They match the damage basically and have decent sustain until they get their spike items.

He provides the Wave clear of a normal mid laner, more durability, strong dps and burst and utility in form of his ultimate

Harrowing started. We need our Iron Lich King to lead us to victory.
I don't play Vlad or midlane, but I assume that's being tanky + having his invulnerability would make him a good counter.
with exhaust
on any mage (:O)
People will say
but he's only good vs assassins in a vacuum,
has an incredibly hard time vs junglers with cc and if he falls behind he's nearly worthless
's been said a couple times in here,
too. A few others I would say that counter them, from my experience as an assassin player;
(ult under tower)
and maybe
I'd say

I like to take
or
mid to fight assassins
has great sustain, a knock up, a silence, and a true damage burst ult to hit them with when they jump on you. If you build ap you can hit your W, ignite them, and ult mid-late game for a kill
is a lot of fun as he can poke them out of lane with his E-Q-Q-Q... combo, Yasuo would be a pain but you can just not spam into his wind wall, and when they dive/your jungler ganks, you have a targeted ult that suppresses and slows. He can also build off-tank and still do a nice amount of damage.
Thanks a lot guys! Looks like i got a few options to choose from.

Those are the best ones, most specifically annie because she actually has above a 50% winrate against every other midlaner except 5. Her targeted stun and burst damage makes an assassins life absolutely horrible, the general rule for playing assassins is do not pick them into Annie. I can go into more detail, like how Lissandra is best chosen against Dive assassins but i won't cause it would be too long.
Sincerly a Mid/Top lane assassin main(i'm waiting for the assassin rework to play them again though but still).
Edit: Katarina actually does well against Vlad, Swain and Lissandra so don't pick them into her.

I prefer to keep my eye
on them.
I won't pretend it's easy, but if you're good enough at him he should do pretty well into the new assassins.
burst damage? Well you got me down to half health grats. Here have some DoTs.
Depending on who you're going against and what the team comp is, also going to be assuming mages as opposed to other assassins or ad mids.
- reasonable poke, stun, high burst, damage reduction. Fairly short range, but is equipped to deal with people jumping on her.
- annoyingly hard to master, but annoyingly hard to lane against. Good poke from a safe distance, wall disengage when he gets jumped on.
- grounded is powerful if used properly. Can stun if she gets jumped anyway. Lots of AoE and Dots, heals some.
- fear. Silence. Drain.
- if they're ap, you will never die.
- Damage resistance, % HP damage, slow, interrupts, HP restore passive.
- turrets give them something else to think about. Stuns can be hard to land though.
- Stuns are easy to land
- ranged poke, snares, shields. Be careful and stay far away and you should be ok.
- lockdown, passive, silence. Good poke by farming waves
- Black shield makes her not care about CC or most jungler ganks. Soaks up magic damage. Spell vamp passive heals her by clearing lanes. Snare lasts for days. Stun can take too long to go off, use it early.
Basically anyone with some easy to land CC and range or damage reduction will do well enough. I've probably missed a few, but there's a pretty good list of mages that can be ok against assassins in general. Some are better than others against specific groups.
can handle them if played well
chogath is an antifun anti assassin champion but i wouln't pick him if the enemy team had poke.
"How to counter lunch?"
Annie, Galio, Cassiopeia, Viktor, Kennen, Malzahar, Gangplank, Karma, Lulu, Cho'Gath, Lissandra, Heimerdinger, Pantheon, Vladimir, Swain, Urgot, Gragas, Mordekaiser, Fiddlesticks
I play Annie, Lissandra, and Urgot, so I can help you on those.
Vladimir in general is a great counter to bursty champions. Saving his Sanguine Pool for when the assassin goes all in can seriously mess up their rotation, and his sustain can help mitigate a lot of his opponent's damage. He naturally gets very tanky, he's extremely strong against enemies who step into his combat range, and his ult makes him a great team contributor no matter how far behind he is, so there are a lot of options he gives you against assassins.
