Ziggs basically just chucks bombs at people all day long and if anyone gets close you place land mines and satchel to get them away from you. He can make big plays diving in, but it is really risky so you might want to just stay back at super long range. For Vlad you kind of have to change your item build based on who you are up against and his playstyle involves going in and out of fights and scoring kills in situations where everyone thought you were as good as dead.

As a level 7, I would suggest Ziggs over Vladimir since he is easier to succeed with and harder to mess up with. Also, his spammable skill shot is kinda hard to land so it will be good practice to make skill shots on other champions seem very easy to land.

Ziggs is a champion whose complete focus is range. The only problem with him, is that your going to have to poke your enemy once or twice before your combo can fully kill them. I mean of course, once fed, he can burst squishies down really fast, but it will take some time to get there. One major thing though is that he is completely skillshot reliant. If you find skillshots in LoL kind of difficult to hit seeing as you're a low level, I might recommend choosing a less challenging champion.

Vladimir is not necessarily a champion that needs to poke. His Q gives him very high sustain for lane, the only problem is that his early game is rather weak. Thus, if you do pick Vladimir, I'd suggest practicing how to farm with his basic attacks for a bit in a custom game to ensure that you won't be stomped on in a real game. He is also very reliant on items, and if you find him more interesting, I'll teach you myself the proper items to build in certain situations.

TL;DR: Ziggs is a poke mage with somewhat difficult skillshots. Vlad is an all-in sustain mage whose job is to live through a fight while dealing heavy damage. Each works better in a different situation.

Each will work better in a certain situation. Message me if you need any help understanding their mechanics/items a bit more.

Ziggs is a champ whose playstyle is all about just solving every possible problem with bombs. You get a lot of utility with his E (useful for zoning) and W (useful for escapes, or to knock vulnerable enemies towards you), and spamming Q is always a lot of fun. So really fun champ to play, and you'll get to learn from the nice mix of damage and utility he has in his kit.

Ziggs is fun, I know that much. His range is insane (especially his ult). But if you haven't yet, I'd wait to buy him. Once the new champion releases (Bard) Ziggs is going to be 4800 IP. Unless you are in a huge hurry to get him. (https://support.riotgames.com/hc/en-us/articles/202083304-Permanent-Champion-Price-Reduction Link saying this).

If you have never played either of them, Ziggs is your man. He is more simple to play ( Yes you have to land skill shots, but Vlad has a more complex gamstye) and his build is glass cannon ( Pure ap). Vlad has items that he cannot live without ( Will of the anceints for instance) and he suffers of a horrible early game and can be counterd with ease. Once he hits his power spikes, he becomes a fricken god. Also Ziggs has a more spamable kit because even tho he uses mana, Vlad's spells cost him health, so be wary of spaming.

Vlad is a great top laner. Strong counter to many top laners.

Ziggz is one of the best ARAM champs.

My advice is going to stray from the original topic. Since your level 7 and new to the game, I wouldn't lock into 2 champions. This game has a wide spread of options an play styles that is offered. The earlier you discover what exactly your play style is, then you should work on your champion pool that fits your style. There really is no way to really help someone find there style, you have to figure that out on your own, however the free champion weekly rotation will help a lot an give you an opportunity to test things out. If you have any question Add me in game, I'll try to help anyway I can. There is a lot to this game and the more you know the better an easier things will come.

K I don't play these champions but I'll try my best to help

Ziggs

  • are you good at landing skillshots? (yes - go ahead)
  • are you good at managing your mana? (yes - go ahead)
  • are you good at positioning? (yes - go ahead) I mean this doesn't matter AS much because you have a small gapcloser (w)

Tips:

  • if you want to poke enemy laner with your Q, you should wait for him to be near the minions first since it is an AoE and therefore easier to hit your enemy if your enemy is standing near their minions

Vladimir Vladimir can be played top, mid. If you go top, you should go bruiserish; if you go mid, you should go glass cannon (preferred). He has weak early game, strong late game. Effective against melee champions (nah not Irelia tho).

But yeah learn more champions, experiment with every one of them.

Seeing as you're still level 7, I recommend that you wait before you decide you want to play a particular champion or two. Play a while longer and figure out your preferred playstyle, then come back and we can try to suggest a few good champions to fit. If there's any particular champions you'd like demonstrated, I'd be happy to show you the basic in a Co-op vs AI game. Mostly that would involve what items to build and basic use of abilities.

Vladimir is more of a knowledge based champion. One of his main weaknesses is that he's extremely weak early game. Yes he's annoying with his poke, but he's really squishy and vulnerable if you jump on him. I quit playing this champion just because his early game was too horrible. I've gotten used to it and I love him now. By the way, the same goes for his sustain, don't expect to "lifesteal" anything early game. Once you're lv 9+ then yes.

Summary: PROS:

  • Strong past lv 9
  • Can use ability rotations ( using your abilities in between your invulnerability)
  • 6.5 seconds of invulnerability (W, Zhony'as and W again when at 35% cooldown reduction) -Sustain life
  • Can poke laners
  • Late game monster.
  • Good in teamfights.

CONS:

  • Weak early game
  • Extremely item reliant
  • Need to get revolver for the spell vamp or your abilities' health-cost will kill you.
  • Pool (W) steals 20% of current HP

I feel like Vladimir takes practice. You need to have the correct runes, masteries, build path in order to really maximize his full potential.

I'm not particularly fond of Ziggs, kinda annoying to me.

I do like Vlad, easily one of my top five favorite champs.

You must build item 3145 ASAP. This is 100% necessary regardless of what lane you're going into. After that, it's pretty much up to your discretion. I do like building item 3065 early. Makes his already redonkulous sustain even more redonk. DO NOT USE HIS W FOR ANYTHING EXCEPT BIG TEAMFIGHTS OR ESCAPING! It costs too much health to be worth using except in teamfights where you can rapidly regain that health.
