Starting over: Learning new lanes and positions

Hi, people.

Normally, I play adc and support. Not the best at either, but I have a fair champion pool that I'm comfortable using.

Now, I'm trying to expand my horizons in terms of roles. I'm okay with playing Cho'Gath jungle, and I've been able to win/make plays with him, but he's the only jungle I know I can use.

As for mid/top, unless I play Caitlyn, I'm stumped. So, I'd like to learn some top lane, mid lane, and jungler champs.

Please, provide suggestions as to which champs are good, and why? I don't need meta god-tier champs, I just need someone I can farm with and maybe tank.

theres a bunch of junglers that are pretty easy to farm with and can make an impact on the game.

warwick...farm fest, sustain, high pick potential, very small learning curve.

vi: needs very few damage items to stay relevant, good for team fights and picks, good wave clear, and another point and click ult

Sejuani: reasonable wave clear, only one damage item needed to stay relevant, She is the jungle queen of cc and shuts down katarinas all day

Agree with toilette's jungle picks. J4 is still a solid jungle pick too, and Xin will probably be good once again with these buffs. For top lane Volibear is safe and easy to farm with and can DEVASTATE the enemy if they wanna go all in. Lissandra is pretty safe and easy to learn for top lane. Maokai is a great top laner as well, the more spells they use, the more you can heal!

I strongly suggest Renekton And Wukong for top lane. in my personal experience both have tons of things to offer the team, from renektons incredible laning phase to wukongs insane teamfighting abilities. Both can be built more damage orientated or a big tanky front liner that your enemies fear.

Jungle I recommend Nautilus. The recent changes to his E and Cinderhulk in particular have made him just SO FUN to play. Plus you don't see many Nauts around, sure you could be yet another Jarvan or Less Sin player but eh... Don't be a man. Be an Eldritch Horror Suit of Armor!

Top Lane, I've kinda grown tired of Top as of late but try out Sion. One of the most rewarding champs I've ever played. His late game is almost nonexistent however. Takes some practice though.

Mid, uhm, Lot of options to recommend, I want to recommend Twisted Fate as I consider him my #1 main but if you're wanting to learn Mid, Ahri is probably among the best options. Good roaming, pretty safe, and overall very fun to play. If you want an Assassin for mid lane, Zed and Katarina are popular right now. I don't do Assassins much though so I can't really offer a whole lot of input there.

Id say once a month or so pick a week and only play the 10 free champions that week. (id suggest playing in bot games too.) Its a great way to learn things about champions and honestly playing bots is one of the best ways to learn mechanics in the game. Bots are always trying to win the game, this forces you to do the same. Feel like playing against bots is too easy? well have you ever not died in a bot game? (lot harder than you think.)

I`ve played at least one bot a game a month for about 2 years.... you always notice something different in bot games and you can ask your teammates questions without being judged.

Dont focus on winning or mastering a champ right now Id say.. I`d say try to find out how the bots are trying to win the game. Pinging and communicating the right things is typically how i win my games. I never get the most farm and i never get the most kills. I do have the most pings.. and the most things said in chat every game.

Sorry its not a direct answer.. but I had wished once I tried to start carrying with a champion, someone would have told me try bots again and think about what you can learn.

You can try Jayce for both mid and top lane. He's a fighter with enough burst to go all in after his short range w (x3 aa) poke and/or long range qe combo.

You can try Nidalee for jungle, mid, or top lane. She's very versatile in her build... bruiser or glass-cannon, although people nowadays prefer the latter. She also functions as a poke champion and can go all in once she lands a spear ability.

You can try Karma for mid/top if you ever practiced her as a support. She falls off late-game (?) but is pretty good early and mid-game with her q burst. You can build her semi-bruiser in the top lane - like iceborn, liandry's, abyssal, and all that jazz.

You can try Annie for mid/top if you ever practiced her as a support too. Pretty self explanatory I feel... in the top lane you can try your hands on a tankier rylai's and roa build rather than the glass-cannon itemization in the mid lane.

You can try Lulu for mid/top if you ever supported with her as well. I personally love her but don't see her carrying as much as others in the top and mid lane since she's mostly utility focused unless she gets ahead in terms of damage.

Zyra mid? Corki/Ezreal mid? Kennen top/mid? Koggles mid? I'm trying to see what you would like having practiced bot lane so much. I can't say there's a lot of junglers that have a bot lane groove to them... maybe try out both Nunu and Fiddlesticks or something of the sort.

If you like tanky junglers Malphite is a great choice i've tried him out recently and I have no complaints :D

Sion is great in the top lane, build tank and focus on E for poke.

As for Jungle, I take Trundle, build Bortk in addition to your jungle item and straight tank after that. Great clears, and some of the best dueling in the game.
