Champions who can be built tanky but still deal solid damage?

Hey there! Master Fledgling here.

A brief one before classes: I have decided that I am not a burst god or a carry. I'm that tanky support or jungler or top laner even that shows up, ganks your lane or CC's the crap out of my enemy for my carry, then wanderers back into the mist to splitpush.

So, no Jax no more. I just can't deal. Namely, I'd love to know some more champions, other than Rammus, Nasus and Mundo, who are sort of my mains, that can build tanky and still deal damage, be it from their passive, scaling attacks or flat damage and mega steroids, respectively.

Thanks and add me if you ever want a solid support or jungler,

-MF

i'm surprised that Malzahar and Vel'koz haven't been mentioned yet. Malzahar has high base damages with .8 ap ratios, AoE %hp, a silence, decent physical damage from his passive, and a 1.3 ap ratio on his ult. Velkoz has good base damage with relatively low ap ratios which results in a lot of his damage coming from his passive. both have low mobility though so you need to have good map awareness of course, 3k hp means nothing if you don't have armor or mr to help increase your effective health "Bow to the Void or be consumed by it"

I'd recommend Gnar. His base damages are pretty gnarly (:P) and he does %health damage with his w in mini form. He has tons of slows in mini form, and in mega he can lock down entire teams quite easily with R+W. His E scales of of his own max health too, so you can go full tank and still do Tons of Damage (though I find BotRK and Triforce work well with him too.)

Lee Sin can do a lot of damage, because his Q is based on a percentage of missing health. Darius can also dish out huge amounts of damage with little or no AD items. Irelia's attacks do true damage, so you need less AD to do the same amount of damage as other champs.

Vladimir is also tanky but kind of in a different way. As he gains AP his health increases or as he gains health his AP increases. So, if he has a ton of AP he will also have a ton of health. So, he is naturally tanky.

Irelia a billion times. She only needs 2 AD items and she's set, build the rest tanky

Actually Jax does well with just Bork and Trinity Force, then can go full tank. Other good tanky champs, Garen, Darius, Malphite, Cho'Gath, Volibear, Taric, Leona, Pantheon, Rengar, Renekton, Sion, ect. Pretty much anyone with the tank or fighter class attached to them can deal decent damage with some tank built on.

I would recomend playing someone like Alistar, Wukong, or maybe Garen (only because he is near unkillable late game due to the buff on his passive).

Ryze RYZE!!!

Unmatched in terms of tankyness + tons of damage

Nasus Nasus is another champ like that but you said you already play him

There are a lot of other champs that build tanky and do ... enough damage: Warwick MonkeyKing Gnar Alistar Irelia Malphite Trundle

but the only tanks that do MASSIVE damage: Nasus Ryze

Kog maw while he's played as an adc right now, he still deal 11% of the opponent health per aa with a single botrk and his w. He need nothing but a bit more attack speed ... there is a slot or 2 for armor on kog maw if you want to try to adc.

Elise got nerfed because she was doing this so much.

%health is a good indicator of naturally high damage champs. Elise and Maokai and the likes, y'know?

Also, Ryze gets to deal huge damage by building tank items that give mana, because mana scaling is totally reasonable.

Hecarim deals high sustained AoE damage with nothing but a Spirit of the Elder Lizard and 40% cdr.

One good option is Wukong. Wukong can do signifcant AOE CC + DMG to their entire team. You will find that you are difficult to kill with W + E kiting and with good control manuevering in and out of teamfights you will have aced their team to be the only one standing simply to go back to top lane and push again. Wukong is sexy, you can build him kinda beefy after HYDRA, say a frozen mallet or more armor pen.

Another tanky support with cc is Braum. You can always try Leonna, Alistar, and Blitzcrank if your looking for fighters. However all of these champs minus Alistar are not the best at farming/split pushing.

Tanky jungles you can try include Zac, Vi, and Jarvan 4 < He is pretty strong, Malphite, or Rammus, I'm not sure about Sion still.

Top laners with CC that can be built tanky aside from Wu, Maokai, Malphite, NASUS, Irelia, and Renekton.

I might also consider switching to Jax Jungle in certain limited cases where you feel comfortable playing a tanky Jax jungle since you said you like playing Jax.

These are my suggestions, the bold include champs you should try out which I personally think are really fun and fruitful champs to practice, Best of Luck!
