Okay, now that item 3056 has useful stats on it, I feel like it's a great item. So far, I've been using it in teambuilder and it's great for popping bases open (not really super useful any earlier than inhib turret). So the question is: Would it be better on the support or the top laner? It's awesome on melee supports (Braum, whom I've been testing it with), which suggests that it should go to the primary tank/initiator, at least to me. But supports already have a plethora of potential actives to juggle, so it seems like top (or even jungle on occasion) should get it for the team. What do you think?

I think it's really solid on a tank for sure, but most people haven't bothered with it because baron buff is such a huge swing to sieging that a lot of teams are coming to rely upon that for breaking into the base, or going into 1-3-1 split push strategies when the enemy team has really strong waveclear. Ohmwrecker is great for countering really strong defensive teams, it's just such a new notion that most people haven't really adopted it yet - similar with banner of command for the same reason on AP supports.

The downside with items like Ohmwrecker/banner is that they have weaker combat stats than similar options, which means you could lose the game in close teamfights and never reach the point where they're relevant - ohmwrecker/banner only help in closing the game and preventing a throw during a push, they don't help you get to the point where you're winning. Since more games are lost in teamfights around dragon/baron than throws in bad dives when you're already winning, it doesn't occur to people to get the extra insurance to prevent something that seems to only occur as a blunder, even if the enemy team comp would make that sort of mistake significantly more likely.
