Counters to irelia, tryndamere, and riven?
these champs are very frequently placed against me in the top lane and I hate playing against them. what are counters to them?

I pick Garen into all three of them. Irelia is the only issue with that if you don't mess up early, because she will always come back to the point where she will completely ignore you and dive your team, but in lane you can beat all three.
is a good general counter to all of them due to his attack speed debuff, bonus armor (and armor scaling damage), and his passive shield. In addition, his ultimate makes it very easy for his allies to gank for him.
works quite well against Irelia and Tryndamere in my experience. Irelia isn't strong enough to reliably bully you early and by the time she can, you have enough items and stacks to beat her. Tryndamere tends to push a lot (so you can farm under tower) and builds pure damage (so your Q will rip through him). If Tryndamere ever tries to all-in you, Wither him and beat his face in. If you survive against Riven, you can typically deal with her too.
can work pretty well, but those are skill matchups.
