Heimer's RE has more range than RW

I'm not witty enough to make a joke about it :'(, I'm sorry.

But yesterday I played a ranked game with midlane Heimerdinger, because he's mostly a safe pick for me (otherwise I'd go Karma) and I couldn't tell who their mid was. So Normally you only use his ultimate during the following two scenarios:

RQ - If someone dives you, or if you are getting ganked. It gives you a much stronger chance to survive and win the fight.

RW - It's an assassinate. If you have a clear shot it's like Syndra ulting with 5 orbs.

But I always wondered what the point of RE was since it only does damage once, despite bouncing 3 times. This made me think that it's probably an initiation tool to try to get an AoE stun out. That's probably still true. But it was the first time, in...like a year (and 1 of maybe 20 games in 5 years) that I've had a perfect ranked game. So I clearly outplayed mid Nid, she was too aggressive. But time and time again, I was able to catch her, and others, out with his RE.

After playing with him long enough, and seeing that his RW animation appears further yet never reached the target I was aiming at, I realized that RE actually has more range. And it can't be body blocked by a tank. The damage may be much lower, but it is great for runaways..

Well that was the story. Here's the game in case there are any newcomers to Heim: http://matchhistory.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/#match-details/NA1/1845484824/36980328?tab=overview&participant=3

Yes, RE has farther range. I don't get what you are trying to say. It's supposed to be like that, it's used for utility so if you want to stun the whole enemy team possibly just lob the grenade out there or if you want to stun/slow someone who has seemed to escape, just lob the grenade out there. ?????
