Looking for some tips for Viktor

Just recently picked up the Machine Herald because I though he was fun the few times I got to try him out. His is a total blast to play, but my first few games went merely okay.

Team-fighting was great: lots of AoE, Gravity Field is a great skill, reasonably safe, etc. However, I had some troubles in laning phase as well as prioritizing what to build, so I was hoping for advice in that direction. Should I rush the Hex Core? Lich Bane looks great on paper with his Q but I'm not sure when to build it. Last-hitting has been annoying, but I think I can put that down to me not being used to his animation yet. More importantly, how should I approach lane harassment? Q draws minion aggro, and E is too expensive to use often. Should I focus more on farming and just surviving the lane?

When starting out, E Q, W, E, E, R. Then max out your E. Personally besides boots, I prioritize his item and it's 1K gold every upgrade, but SO worth it. You'll have AMAZING, damage and wave clear by augmenting your E first. Then W for holding them in-place.

He's a little hard to last hit with, but play passively until 6 and farm up hard. Then feel free to go absolutely ape-shit with his combos. Naturally your item build can vary. But Mana regen and heavy AP will do you wonders. Remember he has NO escape besides FLASH and using his Grave-Field for holding pursuers at bay.

He's SUCH an underplayed champion, but secretly SO OP if played right. And nobody realizes it since he's not played much. But his strengths come in team fights. His Grave Field, Laser and his Ult together? Oh god. Then use the Q to do single target damage or finish off someone. - Just remember also since you're VERY slow and have no real hard escapes, position yourself WELL. Hang back a little bit kinda like an ADC would during a fight. If you can trap them, ult them, and land your laser in the middle of the group? Boom, GG you won. Then the Q to pick off stragglers.

Making sure to make the path of your laser random is KEY. Since it has no animations, it's hard to dodge, and good for harassing. Make sure to ask your Jungler for blue buff early on.

I've carried plenty of ranked games with him. He's so fun to play. And good pick. I think you'll grow to love him. Viktor
