Kennen (How do I ninja?)

Hey there, Master Fledgling here.

Very sleepy, and I have an obnoxious amount of work to do the following days. I got Kennen, anyways, being on sale at the moment. He apparently can be played just about any of the laning roles, and knowing me, I'll find some silly way to Jungle him...

...Anyways, being that I am new to him, what are some things I should know about Kennen? How does Top Kennen differ from Mid Kennen, and when is it wise to go AD on him? His W passive is actually pretty darn strong with AD and AS together.

AP Kennen is better than AD Kennen

The problem with AD Kennen is that your ultimate puts you at risk in teamfights and does no damage, you can't auto attack while you are using your E, and your Q is useless unless you need it for a stun. He's still very fun to play and his base damages will pull you through the early game with no problems, however you will be very item-dependent to be relevant mid to late game.

Top and mid Kennen are played the same, except that most times you can bully top laners (especially melee ones) and win the lane more easily than against AP mages.

Whether you're playing AD or AP, you almost always should max your W first since it's free harass when the other champion is marked and it gives you the best wave clear after you apply marks to the minions with your E.
