Heart of the Mountain worth?

Hello and thank you for taking the time to chat with me.

My usual build order on just about every game is Sightstone > Targons > Magic Resist or Armor depending on the comp and how lane is going and as we all know it get's tricky from there as you can't go by a set build EVER. So with how early I get the Targons, when is it worth it to get Face of the Mountain? My friends INSIST I rush it as a first big item but I don't see the shield as being helpful if I have no HP myself to charge it.

Please help me set this straight!!!!

The thing is the smaller shield is more effective in the early game, and you can continue to build hp afterwards. So I usually focus on it after my sightstone and boots of speed. It's a different story if we need something though, now and again I'll skip it and rush Locket if we're dealing with a heavy AP team.

With an upgraded item 3302 you also get more charges for the minion execute. During things like laning, team fights, after team fights or just plain roaming, having more charges means healing any nearby champion more. Which is obviously a really good thing especially if you're a support with no heals or only a minor shield, like Thresh, Leona, Braum.

It really depends on the situation and enemy team comp on what to rush first, but it's not a bad idea to build it up, plus the shield never hurts. I've saved quite a few lives with it as well as my own. So as always, build to the situation at your better judgement.

I can't believe I over looked the extra charge it provides, if I do indeed rush it will I make up the gold relatively fast?

It's usually in my final build because the shield is hella useful and most tank items don't give on command shields.

It's good, but not necessarily a must-rush. The jump in stats for the price you pay is really good though.

Buy relic, get targons, get sighstone, get face of mountain. If no AP on enemy side is heavily fed or no AD is heavily fed, get righteous glory. Then proceed to do whatever after that. (Randuins, locket, frozen heart.) But you must get face of the mountain.

kind of off topic but I don't understand why supports think they must mandatorily rush sightstone. Sometimes I grab boots of mobility first a pink and 2 green wards etc. Or if I'm playing an ap support like morgana Il grab some ap if we got ahead in lane early so I can snowball harder while still buying a pink and a green ward. Then grabbing my sightstone next back when my team groups up and its more important to have a sightstone. Just my 2 cents that your first back is different based on what you do after your first back. Lots of high level supports gank another lane after their first back
