Do you respect the leader?

So I main support and have started to establish myself as the leader straight from Champion Select. I always start off with a hello, I call my lane and then I start my usual speech of "I know not everyone likes to talk but please ping as much as you can" and "I'm sure everyone is here to win and we all know lanes don't go perfect so let's work with them early and not rage" In game i'll ask everyone to upgrade trinket when I see people hitting 9 or i'll ask people to change builds and i'll call focus order.

Now my question is, do you think this is effective or annoying?? I know it's won me a few games but i'm only Silver 4 at the moment and can see higher ranked people taking it the wrong way.

its only effective if you have a good score

if you're like 1/5 no one is gonna listen

i dont have a problem with it and i actually like having people like that on my teams, However; don't critique or criticize my builds honestly if there is anything to make me troll in a game its that, but thats with in reason if you see a AP Garen i would tell him to go ad or tank but dont be like or your Yasuo you must build item 3087 item 3035 item 3072 item 3031 etc. or be like you have to start X ability and max Y ability first(unless I ask)

remember the majority of the people playing this game are children. As children, logic doesnt always function well, therefore authority is also rejected. I bet you, that you have received a lot of replies along the line of: do not tell me what to do. I main support as well and at my peak reached gold 3. The best thing you can do is ward the enemy jungle. Of course you will get trolled by your teammates who feed. I love the comment: shitty support doesnt even place a single ward. But when you look at the enemy team they have 2-3 players with red trinkets and possible multiple red wards. Its a struggle. Logic doesnt work in this game. It comes down to luck. For some odd reason people love to ignore ping warnings of incoming jungle gank. I also hate it when people engage a 4v5.

SO trying to take on the role as a Leader is a miss or hit. SOme may react in favor others will troll you even hard bc you are in their opinion becoming a try hard

Well as generally I have found most throws are caused by a lack of action establishing yourself as a shot caller can be effective for getting your team to win. I don't control to much though I do try to direct my team at times when it comes to objectives.

Giving tips and reminders isn't a bad thing, but there is no "leader" role or position. Don't expect many players to react positively to your attempts to assert yourself, and don't expect people to follow directions. It's unlikely that you're better at playing every champion on your team than your teammates, and everyone has their own specific playstyle (which may override what may normally be considered an effective tactic for a champion). Calling yourself a "leader" in a team game that doesn't have "leaders" is not advisable; the five players on a team are meant to work in tandem, not as five champions controlled by one player. It's extremely obvious that not every lane goes well; you don't need to remind your allies of that. Asking people not to rage is like poking a crocodile with a stick while telling it not to bite.

I didn't mean I make sure everyone knows i'm taking a leadership role. i've been playing since Season 1 and i've noticed a huge lack of communication and focus. I feel someone has to call targets, decide to push instead of going b etc

Tbh for me it's not annoying or anything but just don't pretend like you know everything and start criticizing my gameplay/build unless I actually am doing really shitty Otherwise I don't actually think there's a leader it's just whether everyone agrees with the decision you make or they dont

I guess I did word this in a poor manner. What I would do in game for example say our top Darius is getting wrecked by a Nasus. I would say "hey Darius try to buy some pots and wards, jung gank top if you can even just for pressence, we're good bot you can leave us"

To be honest, people dislike getting told what to do. I tend to lead but it's rather difficult. If no one does it, the match won't necessarily turn out so well. Things like shotcallers are important, but I believe that having someone to guide the team is also important. Guiding the team =/= telling them what to do. For me, guiding the team is more like objective control, who to attack on the enemy team, your team's positioning and less of "you're not building right" or "upgrade your trinkets". That just gets straight up annoying. Overly talkative people are also rather annoying. They might spend so much time talking, but apply very little of what they said or might talk more than they play. lol

I think the most annoying thing would be asking people to change builds. Unless someone is going something troll like attack speed Zilean, I would HIGHLY disrecommend telling people to change their builds. They might of spend more time on that champion experimenting builds than you think. Even though you might have more games played than him/her, who to say that he/her enjoys your build? Personal choice is also a factor. Remember, there's a difference between a leader to GUIDE the team and someone that think he's the team's commander.

Its all how you package it. I've had a lot of success getting people to do what I want if I'm polite and positive. After a fight goes bad I'll use it to get people to buy more wards and stuff (i.e. "everyone grab wards we only lost that fight because they had a vision advantage.")

It works sometimes and fails other times. There are times where the person ''leading'' our team makes terrible calls all game long where the majority of the team follow along. Though it's generally better to follow 1 bad call than 5 good ones in my mind. It's usually effective to maybe ping a turret or other target to make sure everyone on your team is on the same page.
