Good mixed/burst damage items? For Bard especially?

Hey there, Master Fledging here!

Got Bard. Loving him, but, boy, is he hard. The fact that I can screw up and CC my team and the progressively slower travel time of my ult is tricky, to say the least. But I can tell he's got some serious power. Having gotten more kills than my fellow laners quite a few times using support Bard, his power, when built properly, is clear.

With that as my core on support Bard (And wards, or course) where might I go from here? I've been building Rageblade to some affect, having AD, AP and AS, but I feel like that is where he levels out. Maybe there isn't much more burst to get on him? Because that was his main issue -- nothing to contribute to teamfights. However, with 3-4 meeps hitting everyone, a stun hitting 2 people, a static shiv going off and a lich bane proc or two, he does SERIOUS damage. Surprising damage.

Perhaps a Luden's Echo?

Let me know what you think and strap in as those well-meaning fools buff an already powerful but misused champ.

item 3091 or item 3071 could be useful for when the enemy team has a lot of tanking potential. Since Bard seems to be reliant on AA's, they could be useful :)

item 3285 Great item in general, and it could be useful on Bard, since he can travel long distances to get the stacks up. My only issue with Luden's on Bard is that he doesn't really use spells rapidly, and only his Q can proc it.

Rageblade is also a good idea...I just love that item since it's so rare :D

Yup, I have built Wit's end on him -- he does mostly magic damage, so more on hit magic damage that chips off MR is sorta a good thing ;-) The black Cleaver is an interesting idea though, if I go more AD on him. And Luden's would be good, like you said, only he has that single attack spell ... though it is on a very low cool down towards the mid and late game.

Why not stack an Icebourne with the Lich Bane? And while not exactly burst dmg, I've put ZZ Rot portal on Bard to great effect.

While I am tickled at the notion of having two sheens go off, number 1 -- does that work? and number 2 -- my team will flame me without fail for that, I think.

Of course I am playing damage Bard, so why not take it all the way...

The different Sheen items proc don't necissarily stack multiplicatively,but each one does I believe have its own proc. I remember a patch note regarding the sheen proc and using Ezreal as an example of reminding him about the double/triple sheen procs. I am confident without being certain a Lich Bane and an Icebourne will both provide their Sheen procs upon Spell cast.

However in the case it does not, or if you'd rather minimize team angst , try an Icebourne over a lich bane. Less dmg, but you get the AoE feild slow. You dmg AoE instead of single target dmg, and for less dmg you get some CC in the form of a slow. I believe Icebourne Synergizes with Bard's meep empowered auto's better then Lich Bane as well.

Why not a Nashor's Tooth? It applies on hit Mg dmg, as does Wit's End (mentioned before) and the BotRK
