So I basically suck bad at Vayne but mostly in teamfights. I can play Lucian, Ashe, Caitlyn, Draven, and Quinn but whenever I try to play Vayne in teamfights I either can't get close enough to do damage or when i get close enough to do damage someone just jumps on me. Tips on positioning? Tips on playing Vayne in general?

Patience. That is what gets me through Vayne. Knowing you could potentially 1v5, but ultimately choosing to wait for the best opportunity is one of the best and hardest things to do. Know where and when to enter a fight, and make sure you abuse that invis tumble. Usually for me I make a small list of conditions that allow me to come into a fight or clean one up. Some examples:

  1. Has malphite or vi used their ultis?
  2. Did Corki just use either his flash or his dash so I know I can force him into a bad position?
  3. Was someone important elsewhere on the map that I can abuse this fight?

etc. There isn't always a right or wrong answer, me thinks, but being hyper aware means you can be a hyper carry.

you pop your ult kite them and tumble spam tumble to either gain some distance or to reposition yourself so you can condemn your enemies to a wall ^ this is highly effective btw

Always use ult/tumble to disorient your enemies. Go where they don't expect you to be, making them miss skillshots and setting them up for a wall condemn. You can essentially 1v5 and take zero damage if you do this correctly.

I would recommend this. Show up late to teamfights and cleanup. She has such a short range that being the one in fights, especially with how dangerous she can be, will make you target #1. Show up after about half the team's abilities are on CD, this way, most of the CC has been used. Especially if you can sneak in behind and ult condemn a carry, either ad or AP. Be cautious that your team is ABLE to keep their tanks busy, or else they may just turn and focus you.

If you want additional advice, I recommend visiting the stream I mod for a couple of Diamonds : http://boards.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/tips-tricks/W7KqoJiI-free-coaching-from-diamonds

They coach on Saturday nights (Sunday this week) and should be able to help.

Vayne is really a hard champion to play. Her lane process is very difficult for her, as her range is short and her health is low. She really is not a strong lane champion, and is best typically in pick comps where she can get a 1v1 or a 2v1 with your support for a pick with a good condemn. Teamfighting as Vayne is one of the most difficult champions to teamfight with. Really, things are just dependent on you not getting killed and being able to survive the beginning of a fight and being able to clean up with Vayne's mobility and passive that increases her movement speed towards enemy champions. A QSS can be useful as long as you feel comfortable using active items. A lot of it is practice and experience as well as mechanical skill. That's Vayne.
