How do I play Teemo?

I love the little rat, I really do, but I just can't figure out how to play him at even a bronze level. I feel like I can bully the other laner well enough pre-6, but as soon as they get their ult, they can straight up nuke me before I can even react. Against a poke lane, I feel like my damage is comparable, but I can't build lifesteal or spell vamp for any form of sustain, and I end up losing because of that. I feel like I have no escapes for a gank like assassins, and no tankiness to survive it like normal top tanks. What kind of playstyle is needed to succeed with Teemo without getting dunked?

I honestly only play teemo when I'm looking to troll.

I like to hit w for the speed boost, hit them with a q and a couple aa's, then run away.

I personally only use teemo against very specific champs

I only seriously play him top lane. I run 21/9/0 masteries (AD focus), standard AD rune page, rush a item 3153 then a item 3022 then build tank like: item 3742 item 3512 . Makes you a solid bruiser, while giving exceptional split-push power. Also: item 1325

His passive allows him to potentially sneak attack people by baiting them with the item 3512 . He he he he.

you can build teemo any way you want, just make sure you think about more than JUST your lane when you build, item 3115 is always a safe start, but other items can benefit you highly. dont be scared of item 3085 it can make your farm/harras game so on point. item 3100 is very good, but some matches may call for item 3078 . or even item 3025 cause adding this with item 3116 makes your chase potential really good. teemo should always be built towards your play style until you can learn to adapt play styles with him.

teemo is always a counter pick. almost any melee first of all. but playing teemo is all about getting in your enemies head, cause no matter what teemo global taunt is alweays on, use it to your advantage. if youre low perpair to fight under tower, cause they WILL dive, they will chase, and you need to play with the intetion of being focus, always have trails of shrooms, get deep shrooms, random shrooms will win you games. its all a mentallity that the game cant teach, and you have to know how to play teemo based on their team. know rotations, dont push up to far, but always be looking to split push. set shrooms to be prepaired for ambushes.

With this kind of build you going for sustained damage with survivability. It's a top lane split-push build. Your hell to fight 1v1 and can pressure lane well while still being nimble enough to make it to teamfights. You can offer safer deep warding with your tankier build and ability to kite. I like to take control of enemy top jungle. Shrooms and wards allow me to do this. When it comes to fights, it's unlikely your the first target (logically) which means you can get in some good dmg or help peel for your apc/adc. Bringing a BotRK to the table means that you'll be able to help take down brusiers/tanks and baron, while not being a total glass cannon.
