Best lane pusher?

I tried a couple of champions that can be able to push minion waves during the laning phase but I had a few problems with them.

Twisted Fate - Runs out of mana (must throw in a blue card but can be risky)

Heimerdinger - Restricted to the area of his destructable turrets, leaving him vulnerable to ganks

Are there any lane pushers that can push hard but safely with minimum harass? I will lose more CS than my enemy laner and attract attention from other lanes but at least my main turret will be unscathed. Thanks guys

Edit: Wow guys, thanks for all these answers! I might try Xerath because he looks cool. I unintentionally made it look like I only play mid champs but I play all champs in any lane. xD

Malzahar is one of the safest champions to push a lane with safely. On regular (no cannon minion) waves you can E on a ranged minion and then Q the whole back line (range minions). On a cannon minion wave you can cast E on a melee minion, then cast W on the front line + cannon minion, then cast Q on the front line + cannon minions. Once you have enough ap you can just...leave after casting the spells this way and the wave will push itself allowing you to get 5/6 of the cs per wave.

Note: If you can do it safely, you can cast Q on an entire wave by arrange yourself parallel to the wave. Example: Facing the minion wave in mid lane from the river bush entrance.

Sion is a great pusher for top lane. Max your E, cast W as a wave comes in to lane, start charging Q to get everything low. By the time Q goes off your wave should have weakened one minion, shoot this minion towards the back line with your E. This will push an entire wave within a few seconds and it can potentially net you some free harass as well.

are you only looking for mid laners?

Drunk Rummate1/8/2015, 3:35:37 PM2 votes

Mid only?

Probably Xerath is your best bet. Or Azir. You could always be cute and go mid with Sivir.

Azir

Vel'Koz. Push hard, then back off. You will get 5/6 CS if you are good. Best against other mid mages.

Kayle is pretty good for this with E

Ziggs, Xerath, and Lux are pretty well known for having super long range wave clear; Lux especially at lvl 16 and 40% CDR can laser every single wave, lol. Caitlyn and Sivir are also renown for their waveclear, Graves is also pretty good, you can also use spells like Lucian, Ezreal, and Draven ults to clear waves from long range. All of these strategies are mana hungry, though, as you found out; Waveclear is a super powerful tool and Riot does not tend to balance it lightly; you're going to have to interact with your lane opponent at some point, for the most part. As far as champions that sort of shove a wave while ignoring their opponent, for the most part, Kayle comes to mind. She has shorter range but good sustain with her heal, you typically just hard shove a wave and back off, waiting for the next one, and her E isn't terribly costly as far as mana; she typically doesn't build a mana item except maybe a Dorans ring or two. Morgana has some good waveclear with her W as well, though it costs a fair bit of mana.

Out of the whole roster, MasterYi and Sivir have the best pushing power in the game. While Yi can sort of work in mid lane and push/poke safely, if you want premium mid pushing power and safety I'd recommend Azir , Orianna and Zed: Azir can push the hardest, Orianna can push the safest and Zed doesn't run out of his resource. All of these champions can last hit extremely easily, and can shove lane hard while always maintaining a measure of safety due to their constant ranged harass and defenses/mobility. Another advantage to these champions is that, in addition to a decent to good early game, they scale extremely well into the late game, and can all be extremely strong even when behind, so no matter how things go, you'll always be a relevant part of your team.

Lissandra is very good at pushing while keeping her mana costs relatively low with her passive, she's known for being a good splitpusher.

Vi has EXCELLENT waveclear but mana problems. I know she isn't necessarily a mid laner but I had to mention her. Q + E = wave.

Cassiopeia has pretty good clear and literally REGAINS mana by farming. It does take a bit of time to start the clear but it's about as fast as an ADC when she gets going.

Well Morgana can push the wave pretty safely by just dropping pool on the wave (she also heals from the spell vamp from her passive) And black shield makes her pretty safe

Viktor Seriously. Grab that early(ish) augment point for the E, then waveclear with one skill before anyone else can match it.

You dont want to push lane. It's a better idea to learn how to freeze lane. They're denied cs, your tower is safe, AND they can easily be ganked.

Skia Asteri1/12/2015, 4:44:45 PM2 votes

Morgana pushes really well. relevant video

Terraeclipse1/8/2015, 1:06:33 PM2 votes

I mean, yeah. There are champs out there that are fairly efficient at it, but....

It's not really wise to always be pushed in against the turret. It's really asking to be punished for over extending. Since it sounds like you play mid, this is even MORE of a concern, as mid has SO many different ways for junglers to gank you.

Unless your warding abilities are on par with a god on your team, this is very risky, and when you're dead, they're just going to push the lane back to your turret anyways, and there's the damage you were trying to avoid.

Better to last hit. = )
