PSA: Good Habits For Noobs Like Me

Before the start of every game.

Ask yourself, "Do I have the right summoner spells? Do I have the right masteries? Do I have the right Do I have the right runes?" Make this a habit.

At the start of the game, always have your trinket and constantly remind yourself, "This is best warding item, only cost 265 gold at level 9 for 3 charges."

I also found out I go into matches more prepared when my full attention is on the game, not multitasking (eating, talking on the phone, watching TV). Some people can do it, I'm not one of them, when I play League of Legends, I have to fully focus on solely League of Legends. This mental acceptance has significantly lowered certain types of mistakes like going into a match with Morgana having summoner 11 summoner 6 and my AD Jungler runes/masteries.

Pay attention to team comp if you're last pick. I personally feel there should be a tank/support (most likely both are AP) in every match. If you team really lacks sustain and you end up with a marksman, Quinn Urgot are exceptional champions with item 3071 item 3035 item 3142 and then going tanky since they're fighters who are capable of taking out 2 or 3 enemy champs by themselves. Holy crap? My team doesn't have any AP, just about any tank, support can fill this role as well as AP junglers/fighters as well as Tristana KogMaw Ezreal Varus .

Many people in the forums say, noobs shouldn't give advice to try to help other noobs, because that's how noobs stay noobs forever. Regardless, I feel like this is helpful information.

In all honesty even as you advance it's still possible to forget to change up summoner spells, or runes/masteries. Summoner spells are less likely because your team will typically say something about it, but the other two are entirely on you.

I find that you're right and when you focus on the game for a minute in champion select, you typically will remember do have that stuff set up, if you're chatting with your team be it about strategy or otherwise, you can easily forget to change something like that. You'll also see streamers in many cases forget to do their mastery page.

I know Bjergsen is a perfect example, he's forgotten up until 10 seconds left in the lobby because he was talking to a duo partner, or to his stream, and being that he's as experienced as he is he'll peg out a mastery page in a matter of 5 seconds, but guys like me don't quite have that kind of mastery creation speed so you shouldn't tempt fate, or you'll end up with tank LeBlanc.

Another good habit is buying 2 wards every time you back, or ensure that you always have at least one ward when you leave the base, not counting your trinket (except at the very start of the game, obviously). If you find that you haven't used all of your wards that you bought after about 5 minutes of farming/ganking/laning, you're probably not warding enough, especially if you're the jungler.

When I'm really try harding I kind of plan out the game during the loading screen by analyzing their team comp and picturing how team fights might go. I also think about my potential item build for the game, assuming I'm not playing a champ that builds almost the same items every time.

Also you can use the scroll wheel on your mouse to do masteries super fast.
