Which Support to play against Lucian?

(also any tips on how to beat him as Jinx)

Basically title. My duo buddy and I frequently lose lane to Lucian and he's about the only champion we consistently lose to in lane (when we aren't totally screwing around, at least.) I'm a very versatile support player so I can probably try anything you can suggest. He just seems to out-mobility (letting him force trades or escape) and out-damage my buddy at all situations of the lane. We just had a game against a Lucian and a support AP MF and still lost lane. (If you've never played AP MF she does 0 damage early game.)

Right now I'm thinking only Leona has the lockdown to keep him from winning trades and fights, so I'll be trying that the next time I get a chance.

Thresh and Gragas can both do very well against him in theory because their Es can interrupt his dash. I practice it's quite difficult to pull off, tho.

I guess that, generally speaking, the best supports against Lucian are the ones that can deny his ability to bully lanes and protect their ADCs from all ins. Zilean and Janna both work pretty well, now that his E can't cleanse slows - Lucian works best in short, bursty trades, and he usually itemizes for that. If you can force him to stick around for a few seconds longer, he'll begin to fall behind in trades, especially against ADCs with true steroids. Also, it's insanely difficult to all in both of those champions, so Lucian loses a lot of his kill pressure even with supports like Thresh.

Janna is my favorite to pick into Lucian , she is a great disengage champ who makes him lose trades with her sheild(e) and stops him form closing in with her tornada(q) and her slow(W) plus can be ungankable with ult.

Thresh can also use flay to make it hard for Lucian , plus with flay's passive can make trades in their favours if he uses it right.

The real trick to dealing with Lu, is not letting him get ahead. His teamfighting is hard since he has a short AA range, and other then q has to get in real close putting him to a lot of risk, if you can keep him almost even with you(especially on a good carry like jinx) you should be able to win teamfights against him(assuming no one else is fed on their team).

When I play lucain I try to open item 3031 for a better mid game, following it up with a item 3078 . IfI am behind I swap the order of build since trinity spikes lucian's power sooner, (Phage and sheen good power increases for him). I have also seen people build bortk on him, though I am not a fa of it myself.

Taric does extremely well. His aura makes Lucian hit for less, his heal negates poke, and his stun can't be dodged by dashing away.

I always like to think that it all depends how you play every support champion that determines how you will do against an opponent. I personally am confident against him with all the supports I know how to play. But since he is a very aggressive laner I can't always save my adc from flopping.

My advice would be to consider what Lucien's goals in lane as well as the type of support he has. And look how you want to play against that. You know that lulu and Karma are extremely poke heavy and push lanes hard. You know morgana will just try to snipe q's and regularly fail. Its all situational.

The only thing you can be sure of is that lucien can hit really hard really early. And he has an extremely aggressive pursuit. Never be afraid to sit back, sustain, farm, and wait for your jungler.

I'd imagine lulu would do pretty well. You have good protection options for your adc with polymorph and the ult. The shield can be used for offense or defense depending how how the fight is going. And you've got a slow/poke for wearing him down and then catching him. Very little in the way of skill shots are required so his dash/mobility won't help him much.

I'm and ADC main and Lucian is my most played champ in solo Q and support is my second best role, so I'll give you my perspective.

There's no support that will counter Lucian every game, but you can counter pick Lucian's support to get favorable lane matchup, you need to be adaptable.

For example, say you're against a Lucian Thresh lane - a kill lane - you'd want to pick a poke support. Annie, Karma, Morg, Lulu... Since they have no sustain just poke em down keep their health bars low enough that they won't want to initiate on you. Poke counters kill.

If he's got a poke support like karma, play a sustain support. Soraka, Janna, Taric. Sustain counters poke.

And if he's got a sustain support, grab a kill support - Thresh, Blitz, Leona. Kill counters sustain.

Hope that helps :)
