so i have scaling armor and mr runes and i like them better then flat runes as the give allot more especially the armor ones. But since i'm no where near an expert on this kind of stuff i wanted to ask which are better in what situations, and which is better for competitive play.

I recommend looking at op.gg and search for some of the Korean pro players rune pages. In general, rune pages take several factors into account, but as a start you will want to pick runes ideal for the early game. You might have guessed then that I suggest flat runes over scaling in general (especially in bot lane where you gain levels more slowly). There are some situations though where you will want scaling. I suggest lookng at this as a starting point http://www.reddit.com/r/leagueoflegends/comments/2s5snf/cheat_sheet_for_rune_pages_for_the_2015_season_as/ Now phreak is not really pro but he has done the math on it I believe so they will be useful to some degree. Hope that helps

im far from an expert aswel but as a mid laner using armor runes i noticed theyd be almost equal to the flat ones at level 6 since most mid laners are ap id expect not to get to deal to much with ad pre 6

thats why i bought my scaling armors instead of flat ones

O another turtle.

In general, for seals go flat armor vs AD and scaling HP vs AP. Flat HP if support. For glyphs go SMR or AP vs AD and MR vs AP.

Generally people go for flat armor/health and scaling MR.

If you're expecting to do a lot of trading with an AP caster early, flat MR runes might be better. Otherwise you're usually taking more physical damage early on (minions, auto attacks) than magical.

If you're jungling, flat armor makes a huge difference to how much damage you take on your first clear. Way better than scaling.

If you plan on being an unkillable late-game tank, go for scaling.

They're both good in different situations. Are you going to be fighting a lot early? Get flat. Not fighting until mid game? Get scaling. Sometimes it's as simple as that.

I've been using straight scaling pages and half scaling pages for a while now. Essentially it comes down to what picks come up in the pre game, and what set ups you have available. Obviously your early game can be tough, but there are ways to bypass some of it. Scaling hp regen is always worthwhile, attack speed which is flat and scaling, scaling ad, ap, cds and hp are also worthwhile imo.

Imo scaling ones are better, they achieve flat runes stats at 6th lvl and this takes around 7 minutes of play.
