Off Meta supports?

What do you think about off meta supports? Is there anybody else who enjoy to play Anivia ,Brand ,Lissandra ,Poppy ,Volibear as supports? If yes, I would like to find out more ideas for some fun supports to play, because I played a lot Leona and Braum and I get bored of them. And maybe you could say something about your play style with an off meta support and eventually some usual builds that you make on them.

Poppy is pretty good as a supp.

I love malphite support.

I used to orgasam over xerath support. (Played it to mch)

Oh and taric, just because people underestimate him.

Every once in a blue moon I will play Xerath support. He works pretty well as he is really good at poking the enemy. Has a stun and Slow and lots of AoE for 2v2. Add on to that he can self sustain his mana really well and it works pretty good. His biggest downside is that he is immobile and can be punished pretty heavily for it.

Maokai support is great. Great all-in and peeling, as well as long range slow to catch up to enemy or slow down a chasing enemy. He also has mini-wards in his kit, which is pretty sweet.

Galio Works okay

Taric item 3070

Everyone forgets taric... I just picked him up, and I have an 80% win rate thus far... I'm sure it will dip down the more I play him, but he still is a good off-meta support.

I've been enjoying Brand support lately, and played a nice game of Lux support. I build both as full damage mage (with Mejai's on Lux). Also played against Maokai and Sejuani support which was pretty damn annoying.

I love me some Brand support. He can be a bit toxic tho as is has a really bad habit of taking most the kills, not that thats an issue to winning as a fed brand can really be a boon in teamfights, but that dont be surprised when you adc flames you 4/0/0 score in lane.

My advice is that UNLESS YOU GET AHEAD by a decent margin, i mean a really good early game, not just a kill or two, dont try to build into AP to much and focus more on CDR, MS, mana and basic support utility stuff. The exception is that L's Torment is suuuuper good on him when combined with his passive as that item alone with it means you will always do solid damage.

Oh and always get item 3303. The tick damage of your passive will give you all 3 triggers of it whenever you land anything, hell he may actually be a champ that can get decent results with full item 3092 even.

I've seen successful Kennen supports, Shen supports, and Brand supports.

Hey man, I usually play malphite support. He has really good sustain in lane and his ult is very useful.

Shaco Ap support is pretty good, your boxes can be wards, has good poke with e, and his q helps with getting away. Overall I think as a supp he's pretty useful. Not to mention the boxes do help prevent ganks and usually if your adc isn't very mobile then Shaco supp would be good. Plus he's really fun imo and has good outplay potential

Sion Sion. great CC, and tower pushing. Transitions to late game brusier. Rush item 3401 , item 2049 , and then item 3074 . The rest as you wish. Face of the Mountain can give you great heals from Q, and can also proc while dead, to continue the rampage. The hydra is for damage (people expect it of you), and the AOE lifesteal does wonders for Sion's passive.

I also play Bard . He's definitely not for everyone, but if nothing else I'd say to practice with him just to become more map aware. You roam pretty often, and are constantly checking minimap for chimes, so just practice making the most of those two and it'll help. Also, bard ganks are brutal. R --> walk on over -->Q stun -->auto--> W ally --> by the time you finish that much most allies will have had plenty of time to nuke them to ****. Oh, and for 1st time Bard players, each chime lasts about 10 minutes, so there's no rush to grab them if they are far away. just wait till there are 4 or so in one area. You usually have time to make big sweeps for them after a gank or teamfight.

EDIT: I've also had Ahri used against me bot lane, and the charm is brutal.

JarvanIV Damage, tankiness, and CC on top of an ArP shred for your ADC. What more could an ADC ask for? Other than the kill...

Tyren10/28/2015, 2:07:39 PM1 votes

Gragas Great peel and engage. I helps that is base damage is pretty good. Nautilus This guy has so much cc that even his auto attacks cc enemies. Nami Not sure if non - meta or not, but she is a well rounded support only missing hard engage. You can engage and peel with R.

Malzahar support is quite interesting. Like Brand, he can proc spellthief 3 times with one ability. His voidlings can block skillshots (and dance). If you duo with a Quinn adc you can effectively prevent your opponent(s) from fighting back for 2 seconds (silence + blind). Voidlings can tank turrets for diving or pushing purposes. Your ult is pretty much a free kill. Once you get rylai's you have a near perma-slow (4 second DoT = 5 second slow with E alone). You have good base damage so ap isn't all that necessary. Your voidlings can tank dragon for easy early dragon kills.

However, you have no escapes. You need to push to get mana back but the adc can still last hit the minions affected by your E. You have no hard cc pre-6. Your team probably won't like it so you may need to duo with an adc who also plays Malzahar.

I love playing Velkoz support. All you really need to build on him early is mana regen and magic pen and he gets insane damage with his poke and even more if you can proc the passive. His Q is a slow and his E is a knock up so there's some pretty good CC right there.
