Does attacking a tier 2 turret remove the champion shield?

Like the title says. In a recent game I lost a kill due to the tier 2 shield and my friends asked me why didn't I attack the turret to remove the shield. This was the first time I heard about it and they said it's common knowledge. Fair enough, but after that game said "trick" never worked. The shield on champions still persisted. My friend noticed it too. So is this trick legit and it's just bugget atm,or was it a bug that was fixed,or did it just never exist? I'm curious.

attacking the 2nd tier turret removes its shield on itself and champions surrounding it. i don't know of any bugs with the removal of the shield.

If you destroy the shield the tower has, it should stop renewing the shield on champions around it. A single attack may not break the shield and therefore wouldn't work the way you expect.

Idk the specifics of the kill you lost, but if you are going to dive someone, destroy the shield before diving and focus the champion.
