Hi! I'm a fairly new ranked player, who is currently in Bronze 3 (0LP) after being placed in Bronze 2 and playing 38 games. At this point, I'll consider myself essentially Bronze 4 or 5, given my ratings trend.

I was just wondering if anybody would be able to give me some pointers to be able to win more ranked games. Some info about my LoL playstyle: I fill every game, with the exception of mid.
I have never been reported for flaming or toxicity, and like to think I'm an nice player overall. I'm a Gold-ranked Starcraft 2 player, so my map awareness and strategy is excellent, though my teamwork is weaker and my mechanics are overall pretty sketch.

My most played champions on normals are: Master Yi (Jungle) Miss Fortune(ADC or APC) Ashe(ADC) Riven(top) Teemo(top) Blitzcrank(Support) Soraka(Support) Lux(Support/Mid)

In normals, I'm usually queued against Bronze 2 - Silver 4s, so I'd assume that my approximate skill level is Bronze 2, given that people tend to screw around more in normals.

That aside, I've been doing pretty terribly in ranked. My W/L is 11-27, with me going 2-8 in provisionals and my win rate not getting much better over time. Given that my normals elo is pretty set around high Bronze to low silver, my ranked performance has made me wonder what exactly I've been doing wrong. Lux and Master Yi make up the vast majority of my ranked champs, so here's the data on them:

Master Yi 6 wins 9 losses
KDA: 10.1/8.6/4.8 Lux 2 Wins 7 Losses KDA: 1.6/5.7/12.8

As you can see, I'm not doing great, but not terribly either. I'd say I consistently do well on Master Yi, and less so on Lux support.

Anyway, the main question is: what might be different in ranked that is causing me to lose so much more than in normals? I understand that players generally try harder and play their best champs in ranked, but a 29% win rate doesn't seem right, especially now that I've fallen to Bronze 4. I'm trying not to be one of those players that blames the "omg elo hell bad teams keep me here", cause I know it's not the teams that would cause such a drastic difference between my normal and ranked elos.

Tl;dr: My ranked sucks a lot compared to my normals. What can I do to improve?

I am actually a former Diamond level RANDOM Starcraft II player. I also just started doing ranked games in League of Legends and got absolutely crushed at first. However, since I started really studying the game and watching my replays my KDA has doubled from 2 to 4 and my win percentage went up 25%. So the first advice I can give you is download a replay program (I use SkinSpotlights Replay) and watch all your games. I also think watching LCS really does help because you can learn from the pros. The third piece of advice I can give is Duo with someone you trust.

If you're still struggling please check out my youtube channel. I break down games to their most basic level and highlight how you can snowball small leads or recover when you are behind.

Baronreplays program, play 5 games, (ranked or not, preferably ranked) and let others see them.

I can tell and show you EXACTLY what you are doing wrong and how to learn after you fix those problems.

Also congrats on gold in starcraft 2, this game is a bit different ranking system so ill just link to a post that might make things a little clearer and less frustrating for you: http://boards.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/tips-tricks/onQJH7rg-so-just-qd-up-with-some-plats?comment=000b

It'll zoom to the comment

But in general, this system is even slower than starcraft. Be patient with it.

For general tips:

In lane, have more farm, 25 minutes needs 250 farm, 10 mnutes 75, just those benchmarks.

Try to not die, better to not die than get a kill and die. 8 deaths is crazy high. a good way to think about it is 8 deaths cancels out 16 kills.

good luck!

The thing that worked for me was to read and watch and do all the stuff they're saying here AND (this is a big AND), just jam out the ranked games. I don't even bat an eye anymore if jgler flips out on tilt and starts feeding cuz ADC took red 30 minutes into the game. Now I just kinda chuckle when the zed I'm up against tells me in all chat he's diamond smurf and I checks his na.op and see he's 24-3 with 7.0 KDA. I literally feel no stress in this game when my adc rage quits in my 2-2 promos to finally hit silver because the support is roaming.

You need to know how to win in those situations to carry from bronze. You learn how to acquire objectives over kills and win games with a -30 something kill deficit on your team. You can't learn that crazy bronze stuff any other way than to dive head first into the literal shit :).

Finally in promos to silver 4 after climbing from not just bronze 5 but bronze 5 with literal -40 LP showing up on my in game profile. I didn't even know you could go negative lmao. But anyway if you focus too hard on proper execution without the experience you're just going to get REALLY frustrated because in low bronze doing things by the book will only get you so far.

Those anecdotal game examples earlier... Recent wins for me :), and only way you're winning those with confidence is with a lot of ranked under your belt.
