Let People Play What They Want

So recently I made the decision to play a LOT more ranked than usual and while playing I think I finally figured out the best way to climb. I started off with 50 LP in Bronze 2, then lost most of it, but managed to gain it all back and head straight into my promos which I currently am in now with one win so far (1 to go). I've been on a ranked win streak (currently 4, 7 if you count normals) with my main which is Rengar. Honestly I find him very fun to play and quite the badass once you practice with his mechanics.

Earlier today I played a ranked game and picked Rengar jungle. One guy on my team immediately told me to pick something else like Sejuani because she was "easy" and was in his opinion better. Personally I don't know how to play her for one and two, this guy is telling me to pick something that maybe HE would have been comfortable playing with. The guy went on to say that our top lane Rumble should pick something else too because we both are in Bronze and there was no way in hell that we could possibly know how to play these champions effectively. I calmly told him that what he was implying was quite the opposite and just locked in. What happened in game was just like another game as Rengar for me. I pulled off some nice ganks, and fed some kills to our Rumble, Morgana and Vayne. We won the game in a swift 30 mins and all I could do was laugh afterwards.

I guess what I'm trying to tell people (in Bronze especially) is that you shouldn't tell off someone's pick because you think they are crap with them. I mean I'm pretty sure we've all had that one game where someone picks Bard and he carries the game.

Here are a couple of relevant tips for ranked solo que champion select:

  1. Do NOT autolock in a champion that you think is "OP" and force your teammate to play that champion without confirmation. You don't know if they know how to play that champion.

  2. Stick to playing the champions that you know how to play and are good with. That gives you a much higher chance of winning the game when you're on your best champions.

  3. If you don't want to blind pick your champion into potential counters, communicate with your teammates for potential champion trades. Ask if anyone wants to you to secure their champion for them and make sure that they have your champion before you lock in that champion.

No, I've never had that one game.

While I'd never tell anyone to bring a different champion because I think they don't know how to play that champion, I frequently tell my teams to bring someone else because it's a poor choice for the team.

You really shouldn't bring Kennen support into Caitlyn Karma, they outrange you, they outharass you, you are squishy, you will basically not exist in lane. I clearly don't know as much about bot lane as you do though, because you tell me,"Shut up, I'll bring whoever I want to play".

/sigh.

I've started picking a random support champion while I decide who I actually want to play, just so I have someone chosen before the timer runs out. Recently I picked Bard, then started considering switching to Morgana. Our top immediately goes 'No, don't pick Bard, worst champion in the game! Go Morgana instead.' So I locked Bard.

And it's not just with Bard. I can pick Morgana and someone will ask me 'Can you go Leona instead?'

I'm so sick of people telling me who to play.

Bard from silver 3 to plat 5 never have I seen him win.

I understand what you are saying but you also have to remember this is a team game. For instance someone on your team first picks Orianna and you want to play Xin Zhao but you are also a good Malphite. Wouldn't it make more sense and probably a better chance of winning to make it really easy for Orianna to ult the enemy team rather than pushing all the enemies away and making it impossible for her to land her ult?
