What are some of the best Junglers?

Hello everyone,

I recently started jungling with Pantheon, and started to become bored and not satisfied with his late game plays. I researched some, Shaco, Fiddlesticks, Volibear and Rengar. Which of these should I try and why? Any other recommendations? Thank you!

Skarner can stay in the jng for extended periods. lots of cc and very good dmg. can out duel most champs. and battlecast skin. Zac would be godlike if he was so forgotten by riot

To be honest, seeing your match histroy, it seems a bit like YOU lack late game potential rather than Pantheon.

When you Jungle, you don't have a jungle item, meaning you are always behind where you could be. In lane you have entirely not enough creeps to build anything.

Also from your items I think you play him wrong. Pantheon is an AD Caster, he get's most of his damage from his abbilities. Considering you build no mana, means you don't need it, means you don't use them enough. (item 3004 is a good choice here)

In that regard item 3153 is not the best item, because it only works on attacks. Also why a second item 3144 ? you can't use both. Did you plan on getting item 3146 ? that would have actually been a great item on Pantheon (physical abbilities use life steal AND spellvamp. Also more AD and AP for abbilities and the slow has more range).

With Heartseeker strike, you don't need item 3074 , better get item 3071, increases the damage on all abbilities and get's applied immediately with Heartseeker.

When you notice that you die too often, you need to build more defenses. item 3025 is really good here, especially when you got Manamune, Also item 3065 for MR and more lifesteal. As a caster, you also want the cdr.

When you don't need the defenses (Panth already has high values) you can get item 3050 and item 3078

I really like using XinZhao . He's easy to use, and has great sustain. I usually build item 3714 then item 3153 or item 3078 and then start stacking defensive items. Unless I'm not getting shit done, or the other team has a fed carry, then I'll grab an armor or mr item first after jungle item.

Just up W>Q>E, max E then Q. Tanky, good CC, great early/mid game damage (and very helpful late with Ult/Knock up/Dive). Works pretty well in the low leagues (Silver)!

Shaco Works well if you play him right. He can split push very well and escape out of most anything. I haven't seen a too many players use him to carry actually engagements though (no in the lower leagues). I assume he just takes more skill to play.

Fiddlesticks Can be a nightmare in solo queue, his silence is very strong and a well timed ult will outright win a team fight. Great sustain through life steal in the jungle as well. Not sure on his clear time as I don't play him much.

Volibear Tanky as hell, and his passive is very strong in the early game. If he get's fed he can do quite a bit in Silver league. I feel like he relies quite a bit on his team mates though, so I haven't used him much in solo queue. I have seen him played as a support here and there, not a great choice in my opinion but that may just be the players I've seen use him.

Rengar In Silver this guy either does nothing or rapes everything. Assuming you play him right he is a fairly tanky fighter with very high damage potential from what I've seen. He has a great slow and can stealth (something that is a terror in low leagues), popping out with high burst. He looks like he would be pretty easy to gank with and secure kills.

Oh, almost forgot, if you're just looking to kill a bunch of people Khazix is a good pick. He is very fun to play with a resetting leap and extremely high damage. A bit harder to jungle with though as his sustain isn't as good unless you max "W" first. Also in team fights it takes some practice to not just die instantly since he is so squishy. A while back he had an evolved "R" that reduced damage by like 40% and I went 36-5 with him, but now he is harder to play :(. Pretty easy to gank with though, and in team fights even if you die you can usually snipe their most fed carry first. I try to just make it a goal to kill the 2 squishy carries before I die :P

Overall the main thing I would point out is that you can pick most any viable jungler and make him work from early to late game so long as you play him right. I don't think at our skill level it really matters who you pick (counters, current meta strength, etc) so long as you can play the champion well. I've shit on people that hard countered me in lane, and been shit on by people I counter. I've carried the late game with champions that have a weaker late game as well, all that matters is how well I do from start to finish.

Unless the champion is ridiculously strong like Kha'Zix pre ult nerf (but even then it doesn't matter if you don't know how to use him), I really don't think it matters who you play. Pick someone you enjoy and learn to play them well.

my favorite is xin zhao, of all the junglers I played.. I think I do CONSISTENTLY well with xin zhao http://puu.sh/dIjXe/3f0c3f8ae4.png hes really easy to use, just smash W E Q as you get in range and bam!, kill someone

I take devourers stalkers smite, ghost blade, randuins if i feel like i dont need any more tankiness past randuins, i take triforce and bork over other defensive items So much sticking power, slows, speed buffs, knock ups, knock backs... love this guy

oh, hes also only 1350, so if you dont have him.. just buy him lol

simple tricks when playing him when chasing someone and they're out of range for your gap closer hop onto a minion nearby, your gap closer is an aoe slow and hopefully that gets them if not, yo are now close enough to smite them.. proceed to smash QW and rek them

Of the champions you asked about, OP:

Fiddlesticks is really strong. Riot's nerfs to him were very minimal, on the whole; he still has incredible sustain, great damage, and powerful (if gimmicky) teamfight. He's one of very few junglers that doesn't need to start machete now, and probably the only one that actually benefits from not doing so. The main challenge playing him is figuring out when to ult, and avoiding serious burst damage.

Shaco Is really tricky. He can be strong, but you need to not only know how to use his abilities well, but also think like a Shaco. He's kind of a jungler all of his own. It's hard to get him down, but you'll be rewarded if you do.

Volibear Is a tank. He isn't the best at anything, but he's not the worst either. I don't think he's very good right now given his slow clear time and near necessity to build tank. I'm sure you could make him work, I'm just also sure you would have less trouble making a Maokai or a Rammus work.

Rengar can be good. Another champion with a high skill cap, takes a while to figure out when to use his 5th charge and on what skill. Also, the new jungle beats the crap out of him first clear. He can explode just about anyone if you can manage the element of surprise well though, assuming you build damage.

Personally? I like RekSai, JarvanIV, and MasterYi right now. It's the age of the carry junglers; you CAN pull off a tank if they have good jungle sustain or ganks, but you're probably going to be way better off with a carry. But, ultimately, do what you like.

Define "not satisfied with his late game plays". Do you mean his team fight utility or his damage potential?

Sorry if it seems like a silly question, but it would easily help others direct you to what champion you may actually be looking for. For example, Master Yi and Amumu both have decent enough mid to late to really late game, but for two completely different reasons.

Personally, I use Shen if I want to go primarily tank, and Skarner if I want a bit more damage output. They both sustain well in the jungle, and can farm for a while, while still being high health. Shen is amazing for his ult, saving people and counter ganking, as well as his taunt, and Skarner is great for showing up in lane, and dragging the enemy to their doom

^ are all really strong picks now, imo.
