I'm Bronze 5. Can I get away with running suboptimal runes at that rank and just play my champ to have fun, or am I going to be too underpowered?
I want to play Fizz, but I don't have scaling health seals, or ap/scaling ap glyphs. Would it be ok to run him with just regular mag pen / armor / mag res / ap quint runes?
Are there any champs where you definitely want specialized runes to play them or it's not even worth it?
you could always compensate for sub optimal runes with skill (like I do) lmao I had no ap runes and I was pretty good mid laner ;l
for bronze 5, I would say you could get away with no runes if you are good enough if you really wanted to. for having some of the runes you want, it should be fine as well.
Think of it this way, you're bronze 5 so you can't do any worse than you're already doing.
In other words, do whatever you want! Whatever's more fun for you.
I know a guy who climbed out of bronze to silver 5 last season without runes, so it won't hold you down that hard.
But still, you should probably get some good rune pages.
To be completely honest those runes aren't even sub optimal, they're runes for playing a safer lane so don't worry about it.
I've been thinking about reacting to the suboptimal play here in general.
I've noticed that ganks aren't very successful, and that I believe skillshots hit more often than they would at a higher elo, though I can't verify that.
Not sure how to adjust to that though, but probably less defense early game, more reliance on scaling runes.
