I want to get to Gold.

Hey, I'm kinda stuck in Silver right now, recently I dropped from S1 to S3, and whilst I think I'm doing pretty well in most of the games I play, I find myself not knowing what to do. I get the occasional feeder, troll etc. but as long as I do well, that shouldn't matter most of the time, right? I can't blame people for losing lane badly, I mean sure it helps the other team gain a victory but if I'm better than silver, I shouldn't have a problem anyway, right?

In my previous games, I get the kills I need and push objectives as much as I can. My preferred "strategy" is to split push and I pick champions that are usually pretty good at it. I figure I pick a fair pool of viable champions (although I do sometimes get stuck in a lane I'm not the best at with all my main champs for that lane banned and end up going Galio or Urgot or something). I genuinely don't know what I'm doing wrong in these games to have them lost outright or thrown. I get that some games are just gonna be a lost cause, but I think at least 80% of my games I could have personally done something to carry the team to victory.

Is there any help high gold + players can give me to understand what it is I'm doing wrong in these games? I win lane a fair amount of the time, but cannot transfer that win into a complete victory.

One thing that's helped me out starting out this new season is to get myself out of the mentality of "there was something more I could have done for my team", and even more so "I need to make big plays". Instead I focused on one simple goal: trying to have a zero death game every game. Ward and don't make risky plays. People will make mistakes, and it will be easy to capitalize on them. If you kill someone, try to take an objective. Just a tip that worked for me. Hope it helps :)

I think this might come down to expanding your pool of champions.

See what you're best at, and see what you ENJOY. Just because high level players are using it, doesn't mean you have to pick them.

Also, look into champions that have a similar play style. Lissandra Leblanc Morgana
often times it comes down to team comp, and your ability to "Pick" people off early, forcing the other team to contest objectives they cant win, or give you free objectives.

I'm not amazing either, and just managing to pull my way through gold. I found champions I enjoyed playing, and used them to my advantage. Learn their mechanics, what combo's you can pull off. When and when not to start fights, and how many 'rotations' of spells you can get off while keeping safe.

No. You can blame teammates for losing the game. It is a team game, expecting yourself to carry every game is just unrealistic. All you can do is play your best and HOPE that you get less idiots than the other team.

Hey Sanguine! I'll start by letting you know I'm low gold so I'm not sure how much you'll care for my opinion here, but I'll share a bit of advice anyways :) Looking at your recent ranked games I see hardly any lucian, leading me to assume you do not communicate in champ select your main role. Ever champ select lately I just put adc/supp/mid and its been a while since I got stuck with top or jungle so I recommend you do something similar. Playing champs we love unfortunately doesn't always work in ranked. I LOVE VARUS!!! He was amazing for me in low silver, but in low gold there is no way I could carry games since I require more peel and work from my teammates then I like, so consider champs like Sion, Nasus, Fiora, and Irelia for top lane, rather then Gp. As far as split pushing champs go... Zed, Vayne, Udyr, Master Yi, and Tryndamere are great picks imo. Most diamonds and up that I talk to do not recommend vayne and zed for low elo players though. You seem to be a godly Shen jungle which is great. He would not be anywhere near my top jungle preferences, but if its not broken then don't fix it :) If you enjoy playing jinx, I definitely recommend playing her more often. She's got a high win rate, cc, great passive, dragon/baron stealing ult, aoe damage, great laning phase (as long as you don't push without proper vision) etc.. Try a mind set of how can I get better or what can I improve on? All you can do about other people is ping (or flame), so just worry about improving yourself. I don't even worry about winning or losing anymore. As long as I see how I could've improved and make real progress then I'm happy because if you're not getting better, do you really deserve to move up? youtube channel "Tekk" is awesome for getting a better idea how to play champions btw. Gl!

Gold tip #1 for junglers: do not stop farming after laning phase. Opportunistically farm anything you can if it does not interfere with your objective control.

I know this is obvious, but you have no idea how many times I see the enemy jungler just stop farming jungle and roam/dance mid/wait in a warded bush 24/7 after laning phase is over. Even if they are mega fed at first, they'll start falling behind if they keep dancing mid.
