So I was initially going to make a thread on people to just throw out tips, tricks, and experiences with Thresh so I could try them out and look to further grow my support skills with Season 5 around the corner. Then I realized with Support being my main, Support in general would be a better topic. Post a support you like to play and some tips and tricks you use to be successful so everyone can learn from them! Even if it is some crazy champion not (In meta anyway...) considered a support, post away! I love learning new things as my main role! I'll go first! ((Keep in mind, some of these may already be known, try to share ones that have not already been posted.))

Thresh: 1.) A pretty common trick but still love to mention it, is If you "E" "Flay" at the right time, some abilities can be stopped. 2.) Placing your lantern and then running ahead of you ADC with a Hook on the enemy can help close huge gaps if you're in sync with you ADC to make plays the enemy may not even see coming!

You can also toss it back into your tribush so your jungler can lantern gank. If you want to get really fancy, start tossing your lantern back to apply pressure even when nobody's there - the enemy team might think someone is coming an step back.

Plant wards whenever you pass an intersection. For more advanced players: Ward incoming attack paths to "protect" an area, such as dragon, baron, or a lane without turrets - but remember to watch the minimap to make use of your wards, and retreat if you see an undefeatable threat approaching.

  1. When playing on Purple-Red-Topside as Thresh, you can toss a lamp over the wall behind your turret to allow your jungler to lane gank practically from the gromp camp.

  2. as any support, always try to slow before you drop tricky skillshots. Anyone like Nami or Morgana who builds FQC will always be well served to throw out that slow before trying to land crucial bubbles or bindings, and Thresh actually has deceptive range on flay-I often use it to displace an enemy even further then throw out an unavoidable hook.

  3. as a melee support always understand that while other supports apply pressure via poke you apply it via presence. Always play Braum, Blitzcrank, or Alistar like you'd play Nami. Understand that you're the scary mother in the lane and don't always try to stay out of range or bush camp to be sneaky. Your ADC does not want to be the one taking harass, you want to make all those defensive stats and regen you're getting work for you, and it's always easier to land a skillshot from half the range you need to be at.

  4. Smite is now an invaluable skill for many supports. I personally love it on any Targon support, particularly Blitz or Naut, where you can unexpectedly clear a minion your opponent was hiding behind for that sneaky hook. When wandering the map, smite buffs for instant heals or wolves and raptors for even more vision control ( on top of your ward cap). Later on the Juggernaut upgrade is incredibly stat efficient and the Stalkers Blade grants you an extra ghetto slow. Don't forget to do a super early dragon as soon as you get a kill in lane!
