Nice details...
a. Learn when to get ignite/exhaust
Ignite is good for snowballing lane and generally doesn't do much post-laning phase.
Ignite is good if you're playing burst supports/lane bullies such as Thresh, Blitzcrank, Leona.
Exhaust is good for peeling/protecting ADC
Exhaust is good against Zed/Yi/Riven/Katarina (assassins basically)
Exhaust is better on traditional supports like Soraka, Janna, Nami.
b. Learn matchups
If you are Vayne and Blitz vs. Janna and Caitlyn, well you're probably going to get shit on 100%. Prepare your anus. Play safe. Etc.
Caitlyn is strong against Vayne pre-6 but Vayne can destroy Caitlyn post-6. So if you're playing Vayne against Caitlyn, wait for your level 6 since you'll be much stronger.
c. Learn your (ADC's) powerspikes
If you are playing Corki, the best time to teamfight is when you have a Triforce.
Graves? BF Sword.
ETC. ETC.
d. Respect enemy laner's damage
Check your enemy laner's items, especially for enemy ADC.
Enemy Graves has BF sword while your Vayne has Vamp Scept? Then don't fight. Play safe.
e. Ward
When you go into lane, you don't really HAVE to ward mid river. Enemy jungler is probably doing camps and shit, so wait until like 3:30 / 4:00 into the game then ward.
f. Level 2 Advantage
When you go into lane, you need to help your ADC to shove the minion wave to ensure both of you hit level 2 first.
Why level 2? Free combat stats, new skill to learn, when the enemy is stuck at level 1 with no new combat stats and only a skill to learn.
Check your experience bar pls, know when you're going to hit level 2 first. I know no one in my ELO knows this level 2 advantage stuff, so I get so out of position and chunked the enemy laners when I hit 2 first and they just backed and decided not to punish me. I LOVE MY ELO
As a support, though, you'd want to CC either of the laner, and let your ADC to follow up.
g. Buy "support" items
Mana regen?
(For peeling)
Enemy team has AoE/a lot of Magic dmg?
Complete your first support item.

You shouldn't buy damage items on a support unless you're
support... (OH WAIT ARE THEY EVEN A SUPPORT?)
h. Ward. Ward. Ward.
I ward an average of 40 wards as a support. I don't know what to say but, yeah. It's really frustrating to have a support who buys
and doesn't ward and QQs when the team needs more wards and be like "IT'S NOT ONLY THE SUPPORT'S JOB TO WARD!" Jesus are you kidding me you don't even use your trinket...
