Newbie top lane tips

  1. When you ward river brush, place it to the southern most part of the brush to get the most vision. You can see enemy jungler entering your tri-brush for a mere 0.5 sec if they're pathing normally.
  2. Never push lane pass middle of lane unless you're securing a kill or a turret. If your minion freezes just outside of his turret range, stand close enough for exp. The most minion you'll lose gold on is like two.
  3. When your opponent dies or tp's back (with tp on CD), push lane to turret so he doesn't get the exp. 3a. Use this window of opportunity to tp back and item/ward/potion up so you stay on par with your opponent. Staying and cs'ing under his turret is not as productive because he'll be ahead of you in items and you risks the chance of being ganked.
  4. When your opponent is zoning you out unusually, it could be a sign that enemy jungler is nearby.
  5. If your opponent picks an even or favored champ, clear minion wave and go kill the crustacean.
  6. If you're getting ganked and is being sandwiched, run to brush and flash from the other brush to the other brush. If you do it right, they won't see that you flashed.

1a. If you naturally push waves, it isn't a bad idea to put a pink in the tribush. Also, river bush wards by top aren't effective against the likes of Pantheon and Nocturne put them a little bit deeper, because you have to respect their ult range.

This might be a general tip for all lanes, but "know your matchups and power curves".

That Riven just hit level 3 one minion before I did, should probably back off or my lane is basically over.

The best thing you can do vs a snowbally matchup Riven Tryndamere Darius Nasus and many others is just deny the snowball, it's ok to miss a couple dozen CS but still be getting xp instead of feeding a champ that is stronger than you because you wanted to go aggro needlessly.

Good tips. I've got another

If you're pushed into turret in tough lane and you can't ward the river, go through to your tribrush side. From the ledge you can actually sneak a ward into the edge of the river brush!

Top lane is a common lane for tower dives so always keep your tri warded as well if you're against a tankier toplaner who can tank the turret, or if their jungler is tanky enough to do so.

If your opponent uses summoner 12 top lane let the jg know that so you can make an easy dragon play. If you can push lane in most cases u can summoner 12 down to dragon for dragon play well your opponent is stuck top lane making it almost a free dragon

Another tip: Buying another damage or defense item is going to do you much more then buying boots, wait until you are required to go away from top lane to start buying boots

If you're getting ganked and is being sandwiched, run to brush and flash from the other brush to the other brush. If you do it right, they won't see that you flashed.

Ok seriously I have been playing this game since beta and I didn't even really think about killing the scuttle crab as a top laner..

Gawd I'm such a noob

  1. depending on side (purple or blue) this is very misleading, purple side can benefit more from a ward against baron wall across from river, denying any path to river (based on JG champ) and see more while also helping the mid laner out (they see a blue exit and can ward the other giving you full vision)

  2. clear scuttle whenever you have the chance, it is free gold and if you have lane pushed you are risking dying, also going to kill scuttle creates fog of war pressure on mid and bot (if you have TP) as well as free vision and you have chance for deep wards
