Tips against Talon?

Hi, Castanean here. Fairly recently, I had a game where I fought a Talon, and got absolutely wrecked, and went 1/4/0 throughout the laning phase. It was a normal blind-pick game with me playing Veigar. Now, I'm fully aware that Talon completely shits on Veigar, but that's just even more reason for me to ask how to counter him, because in a matchup like that I never stood a chance to begin with, giving me literally no chance to actually learn.

I also found that exhaust doesn't help at all against Talon due to the oh-so instant nature of his damage, and by the time I finished my Zhonya's, he already wrecked too quick for me to actually use the active, and even if I managed, he would just finish me the instant it wore off.

So... What does one do against a Talon?

I have a friend who plays Talon a lot, and I can give you some tips.

-Shut him down early. Talon is rather weak until lv 3 or 4.

-Never be the one to initiate on him. I learned this one while I was playing Zed. While Zed is considered a counter to Talon, that won't be the case if you initiate on him. All he has to do is ult and run, and you just wasted your ult. Let him go in first. A good Talon will only use his ult when it will kill you, so fast reflexes will allow you to ult and burst him down. Remember, when he ults, you have to think of the most likely direction he'll go, so you're in range to ult. If not, you can run into tower range, meaning he can't kill you with the ult unless he runs into the tower as well. An upgrades red trinket will almost guarantee you win this matchup

-Anyone with low cool down abilities and high burst (Diana) can fare well against Talon, able to dart in and out of range. Same goes for crowd control. One great counter is Taric. Tons of armor, and easy point and click cc, meaning you can stun him to escape or bop his face in.

-Finally, one of the picks is someone who Talon does not want to to close to, such as Malzahar (I knew he would be useful someday). A well executed Mal combo will mean that at best, he will be able to E, then W, before he dies.

These are just a few. If you have anymore question, i'll be happy to answer them.

I would say Play Diana easy to learn, more dmg than him.

Orianna is a heavily skill match but if u can keep him at distance u can win vs him.

Xerath Even more skill based than Orianna but with even best results.

Also ask help from the jungle, Shove the lane hard so he can't roam...and buy item 3191 it reduces the dmg output early vs him.

One thing you need to remember is Talon is most likely to jump on you when at least one of your abilities are in cool down. Backing off from his Cutthroat every time you have an ability on cooldown (for instance, an ability for last hitting a canon minion) is a very good idea.
