basically the title. I understand that they are both hyper carries and should have aroudn the same damage output late game BUT why even play kog since vayne can go invisible and roll around while kog shuffles lol I really like kog please give me some reason to play him over vayne!

Vayne carries more personal utility than Kog does, vayne > kog if you ask me.

Depends on how you play both of them on a skill level. Kog can be a monster if played in the right hands.

It mostly depends. Vayne is 100% single target damage and a much better duelist late game when fed. But due to her short range, isn't as good at tower sieging.

Kog is better in siege comps due to his attack range steroid and ult. But not the best duelist due to his 0 self defense tools. Kog is also a much riskier pick due to being much easier to dive onto in teamfights.

Kog has more damage, higher range, AOE damage, poke and is tankier thanks to his build. He can't kite as well and is easy to dive though. Vayne is slipperier and kites extremely well, but has short range and is only single target damage, meaning she is extremely weak against AOE hard engage teams.

Early game, Kog has waveclear and ways to proc Sheen for his damage, while Vayne needs to farm with autos alone. Kog's build is also easier to complete and is very hard to keep down (he gets Triforce and BoRK, which come in small components) while Vayne needs a shiv, which has an 800 gold component. However, Vayne's better in a kill lane, since she actually has kill potential, while Kog doesn't, so that limits Kog's possible supports to pokers and sustainers.

Here's some math:

  1. 8% silver bolt proc on a 4k tank = 320 true damage = ~105 damage per shot in a theoretical sense
  2. 6% magic damage on a 4k tank = 240 damage per shot = ~the same as Vayne's damage given magic resist

However keep in mind Vayne has a short range and in a fair teamfight that 550 range will get her absolutely destroyed. When you play as Vayne you cannot start attacking at the start of the fight because ~4 enemies have some sorta CC that they have not yet used. It is hard to get 3 shots off on the same target until the teamfight is in "clean-up" stages. The one thing going for Vayne is the massive AD steroid on her ult.

Kog'Maw can start blasting away from the get-go because of his 700+ range and does not need to hit 3 times to get the damage. He also does more burst because he has trinity force and can reliably get the spellblade passive whenever he wants with his ult/Q/E. Also, he has built in atk speed boost from leveling his Q.

On squishier targets like an AP mid with 2k HP/no MR:

  1. Vayne does roughly 50 damage per shot (150 silver bolt proc)
  2. Kog'Maw does roughly 120 damage per shot = maybe about 90 damage per shot because most mids have no MR

As you can see Kog'Maw does more reliable and better/similar damage on hit and with TF to both squishies and tanks. Both use BOTRK so nothing to say about that.

Depends on the team comp. If you're solo Qing...I'd go with Vayne. Just too easy to get caught out as Kog...they're both fairly equal late game however, with Vayne giving the better 1 on 1 capabilities and Kog providing better poke comp and siege.
