Aatrox build

I've been playing Aatrox a lot lately and though i feel his build could use a little something different with his ult perhaps, i decided why not focus on what I have to work with. Aatrox is built heavily on AA and his AS steroid ult/bloodwell. I decided to run this build with him yesterday and found it crazy good with his AS and lifesteal. I built it in this order (of course you'll need to improvise with certain situations) . You'll attack like a blood crazed maniac!

If anyone knows other builds for Aatrox please feel free to share so i can try them out.

This is pretty much the build i go with, but I usually only pick up zephyr as a snowball item. Being a fighter, though, he has more than a handful of situational options. item 3156 , item 3142 , item 3072 , item 3078 , item 3035 are all good offensive options. item 3075 , item 3068 , item 3102 , item 3026 are all good defensive options, GA especially being hilarious.

Out of curiosity, why would you take Trinity on Aatrox? He doesn't benefit from enough of the stats for it to be really worth it over an extra defensive or sustain offensive.

Movement speed is great on Aatrox for when he ults.. I seem to ult and then they are able to run away after only getting in 2-3 hits... With trinity you can chase them down

That's what you have your E slow for and your Q knockup. Keeping in mind you'll be harassing with your E anyways, using W blood thirst to sustain that and in most scenarios maxing your E first anyways - if you can E, close the gap by simply walking up, trade with Blood Price + ult, Q, E, you're guaranteed at minimum a flash or kill. For trinity to be effective, you're best off to build full AD - which really honestly isn't ideal at all. SV is core on Aatrox Phage passive doesn't help as much as you think, nor does the Sheen passive given his long CDs. Mana doesn't help him, nor does the AP scale well with his E. All in all, Zephyr's a much better option over Trinity for a few reasons: Tenacity frees up boots for Ninja tabis, Attack Speed, AD, more MS and the CDR helps you reach the 40% cap.

Just tried it to be sure, no it doesn't proc the sheen passive.

It gives him better burst damage for all-ins, plus the rage passive helps you keep chase. It's not super-amazing on him, but he can get some mileage out of it.

Pretty standard Aatrox itemization. Here's my usual build path as a top laner, obviously changed slightly situationally based on who's fed, enemy team comp, etc:

item 1036 item 2003 x3 item 1001 item 3144 x2 item 3153 item 3211 item 3065 item 3111 or item 3047 or item 3006 item 3074 item 3143 item 3026

Reason I don't take Doran's into most lanes is his natural sustain with W (second point) and that he pushes pretty hard to keep his blood well up, gives you a slight advantage trading with W as well and provides a little bit more sustain from pots while also saving you a little gold getting your bilgewater earlier

His W is his natural sustain, and his E builds nearly max blood well by the time you've hit 2 anyways so you should have enough AS to be able to sustain fairly well unless you're laning vs Pantheon. By the time you've hit 10 and you're ready to put another point into W, his sustain has already fallen off pretty hard but by then you should've snowballed hard enough as it is that you're a couple levels ahead of your laning opponent and may very well still be in lane if you haven't forced a team fight yet.

Try titanic over ravenous, and ohm instead of zephyr, or instead of tabi. I like the blade titanic hydra for the on hit damage. Runes and masteries can vary as well. To be honest there are quite a few possible builds. Try taking tanky masteries, Warmogs, Spirit Visage, Ohmwrecker, ZZrots, titanic merc treads. At that point all you need is some attack speed in your runes and what ever you like for yellow and blue and you will heal like crazy.
