Escaping the throw-zone?

Hey there, Master Fledging here.

So I jungle a lot. I picked it up because it's one of the most influential positions, and I suck at last hitting (which makes me a wonderful support too!) Only, I cannot seem to influence my games enough to stop my teams from throwing. I am not saying I am 'Diamond 1' or any BS like that, but I am a competent player and I feel like I am often ham-stringed by my team making poor decisions, having poor skills or just not cooperating to close out games.

Even at the end, we were ahead by a wide margin.

Perhaps I need to pick more damaging, hyper carry champions while in solo queue?...

The problem I see with most pug groups, everyone wants to do damage. Rarely does anyone go tank. This means everyone gets squished late game pretty easy. I jg a lot, and usually go full tank build with Mao, Nautilus, or Malphite. These all allow good ganking power. I'll Taylor my build order to the enemy team, whoever seems to be a leg up. If it is ad, I get armor first. If it is ap, I get magic resist first. On occasion, you'll get an enemy team that is primarily all ad or all ap. Those games are fun because you can stack that particular defense huge. ..

I like to use smite and teleport. Teleport allows me to quickly go where I am needed if I do see a tower or teammate in need. I only use it if I have to though, not to help me get around, only as a support tactic. Late game I will use it to get behind enemies when they are retreating from my team. Sometimes i will drop a ward far out so i have a place to teleport to quickly.

Sometimes I get grief from my team for picking teleport. I don't try to explain, and I don't go vile. I just do my thing and it usually works out in the end.

IF I ever do anything other than tank jg, I always try to see if someone else on my team is going tanky. It is absolutely necessary late game, in my opinion.
