People who give up and surrender in Ranked.

People who just go like, "GG" when First Blood happens. People who constantly try to persuade the team to surrender. There's no reason to give up or surrender in ranked. There's always a chance to win games. One late game Ace wins you the game. If you have the mentality of just giving up because oh whatever LB got First Blood or something, you shouldn't even be playing ranked.

What happened in this game was that the we had a Master Yi who fed 3 kills to Tryndamere by 10 minutes. A dual mid with Vayne and Akali. Me soloing bot lane with Leona. They had a 7500 gold lead at one point in the game. We were 4 drags behind. But we still won the game by grouping in the end and playing well, ending it 38-29 even. Even trolls want to win.

Don't just give up and be a downer to your entire team. A single mistake from the other team can make the difference between winning and losing.

EDIT: This certainly shouldn't be taken completely literal. There's those 50-5, 4 turrets down games that is definitely a waste of time no matter what.

It's just as frustrating if not more when you are winning but there's that one feeding guy who keeps starting a surrender vote every time he dies... It's even more frustrating when the rest of the team actually agrees to the surrender.

[Blue team surrender has failed with 2/5 votes.] Caitlyn: "OMG stop wasting my time and vote yes to the ff" Malzahar: "No, we're up 5 turrets, an inhibitor, 2 dragons, and tied on kills. Just pull yourself together" Caitlyn: "ff or I afk" [Blue team has agreed to a surrender with 4/5 votes.] Malzahar: "WTF?!" Sion: "Dude, he was gonna afk. We had no choice." Malzahar: "..."

Saying "Never surrender, because there is microscopic chance to win" is even more foolish than saying "GG" after First Blood.

I could judge many games even by tunneling only on one lane. There are games you can be 0/5 and the other dude can be 5/0, but you know once it will come down to teamfights that dude will be as good as AFK. I would never surrender a game like this.

But now imagine I'd have one or two flamers and/or on top of that another lane/jungler losing. If you don't want to surrender a game like this you are basically expecting a miracle to happen.

Yeah that can be true but never surrendering is also good. You have to understand when a game is lost, if your team is 2-18 by 20 minutes dont just try and rely on a late game teamfight every time

4-27 in kills and 0-4 in towers @ 20 mins and no one even started a ff vote, let alone typed a sentence about everyone feeding. I loved it.

If you're low elo, don't frigging surrender ever. If you're higher elo, surrendering can be justified.

Ehh, I'm both minded. I rarely call the surrender vote, but if a ahri is fed by 10 kills before 15 mark, I'm surrendering. Even if we do win, its not a fun win. Now if my team doesn't agree with me. I'll drop it and keep playing.

The thing I hate is when there is that 1 guy who gives up at champ select. That same guy then proceeds to feed and continue spouting about how we were doomed from the start no matter how well anyone else is doing. That kind of player just drags the team down and makes everyone play worse.

Here is an example of game that shows that there is no such thing as an uncarryable team mate.

You can easily win any game with just a couple fed players. Have 1 person able to hard peel and 1 able to do damage and that can easily be everything you need.

The question of whether to surrender isn't black and white, regardless of what game mode you're playing. Sometimes people will surrender games they shouldn't have, but sometimes people will refuse surrender votes they shouldn't have too.

The biggest point for me is whether I think my team can change how they're playing (because playing the exact same way and hoping for a different outcome is foolish). When I don't think they can, I put up the surrender vote. I know some players like counting on the other team handing you the win, but I'm not one of them.

In the words of The Great Scarra, "All games are winnable, but not all games are worth winning."

If by 20 minutes, the score is something like 30-5, and the enemy team has already taken an inhib while you have none of their towers (I have had many games like this), I'm not gonna wait another 30 minutes for a chance to win that game.

It's incredibly rare that I afk, but I have had a couple times where something like this happens and my team refuses to surrender multiple times and I decide that the frustration I get from the game is super bad for my health so I just leave (I warn them before starting the vote).

Even if you win that one game, it takes up the time you couldve played another 2 that weren't so frustrating and anti-fun to play. Then if you lose anyway it just makes it so much worse.

Winning all game then everyone has a few mistakes which throws the game but even though my team is ahead in gold and up in turrets people spam surrender vote saying game is already thrown and over, flame, threaten to rage quit, and blame. :(

OK, now the people who say never quit are the same people who don't understand odds. If you are down and getting a super beating, the odds are that your team will lose. NOW there is a chance you may win, this is the same reason that GAMBLING exists. The chances are small. Many people who at 20 min with a 15 kill and 1 inhib deficit see it as time to cut their losses (their investment being time and enjoyment). This same practice is done in the military, in buiseness and in most peoples life. Sometimes it is just better to toss up a loss and and start over. if your team keeps passing surrender votes 3 yes to 2 no that means that most of the people on your team want to start another game. This turns the 2 people who "NEVA SERRENDA!!!" into tools who are actually ruining the fun of the majority of their team. When playing unranked games teh 2 guys that wont surrender are quite often the guys who are not being team players and contributing significantly to the teams loss. there is nothing wrong with surrendering and starting a new game if most of the team doesnt want to play. I have played out many obvious losses and never had a surrender vote pop up. we lost but we still had fun, I have also played many more games that were not surrenered (3 to 2), went 50 minutes to an hour and were still lost. The diffenence is that the long drawn out loss was misery. 3 of the 5 wanted to start a new game but the other 2 just brought them down and drug out the loss. There is nothing wrong with surrendering to a better team. Very few people actually improve there game because of a long drawn out loss. Most people just want to play and have fun. you will improve more if you enjoy what you are doing, when the surrender vote pops it, it means people are not having fun.

My Motto for every game is "Never surrender until a Nexus explodes" Unless of course the game is like 0-50 at 5 min cause reasons and the enemy team are just being totally BM

Drunk Zetsubou10/17/2015, 1:50:19 AM1 votes

This. I hate people who play rank and surrender when it seems like it's going bad. Stay out of rank kids and just play normal, you can surrender all you want. They should make it so surrender shouldn't even be possible in rank.

Randomonium10/17/2015, 5:00:52 PM1 votes

Wish more people in bronze had this mentality. Can't tell you how many games I've won with a gold disadvantage.

Orihïme6/20/2015, 8:40:41 AM1 votes

Surrendering is a ridiculous notion. There is a come back for every game, no matter how far behind you are, if you are lucky and willing to fight for it.

Finish what you start and see it through to the end win or lose, because quitters never win.

Deathchewy7/12/2015, 2:51:07 AM1 votes

most games are worth surrendering if your team is 3/30, no single skilled player can carry a bag full of crap

Faith Breaker6/17/2015, 1:01:05 PM1 votes

I wonder if you still woulda made this post and message if you lost that game? Doesn't seem like you are sourcing your advice properly.

ChocolateMeat6/18/2015, 1:55:25 AM1 votes

Sometimes a surrender is honorable. Like the enemy teams flow and team fighting is just better. So you surrender to honor them kicking your ass. That's ok imo.
