Any tips for Soraka?

BreeBreeBRAN·1/6/2015, 8:38:22 AM·1 votes·1,741 views

I main support and I want to start trying Soraka because she heals for days. I just did try her and I went 1 1 31 and my adc went 16 4. He had 0 deaths until we started roaming.

I start with a dorans shield and a health pot and a trinket. Start w then q then e then max w except for ult levels. I go back to buy sightstone and if I have enough I buy regen beads. then boots. I build warmogs first. Then cdr boots with alacrity. Then rylas then morellonomicon.

I'm not sure about my full build yet but what I tried last game was

Warmogs Ruby sight stone cdr boots with alclarity rylais morellonomicon Spirit visage sweeper.

Runes are 2 gold quints 1 hp regen quint 8 gold seals 1 armor seal 7 armor marks 6 magic resist glyphs 3 armor glyphs

0 11 19 masteries.

But what I've noticed that when people start getting annoyed that my adc wont die and can stay in lane as long as they need to, they start trying to focus me. They start to burst the adc so I run in and heal, but then they focus me. And they usually move faster than me so I end up having to flash. "Ping your adc back" I could, except it doesnt work when they get stunned or taunted. So I'm forced to run in. Then they kill me, then clean up the adc.

Any tips against this? Or in general

u started with WHAT? no doran's shield.. theres a tip ;l u got warmogs? WHAT? no warmogs.. theres another tip ryl.. morel... Icanteven... WHAT? WHY? okay so if it works for you, go ahead

thing with soraka, is you want to increase health regen, without really wanting to increase your max health, since 10% of its gone evertime you heal regardless how much you have so to hell with item 3083 ... item 3800 got that kickass utility and health regen, get that shit doran shield is another big no no, introducing item 3303 ... better yet item 3301 1!#1! that rusty coin thing tuns into the item 3069 , this shit has an AoE ghost buff, fking get that! tbh, idk whats with item 3116 ...If you wanted your abilities to do alittle somthing extra, I suggest looking atitem 3504 like hell, you have 2 speed ups and a slow as it is I honestly never thought of building visage on soraka lol, not bad at all but.. eh personal preference, I dont heal myself all that much out side of laning phase once again... personal preference, boots of mobility

Well that's utility soraka, my ideal soraka That or ap soraka, geez you really shoulda considered ap soraka cuz it looked like you had the income to do it haximum heal for days I would never go tank on my Sorakas ;/ idk i never had the issue of being focused or dying or anything... cuz standing far away is sorta the way to go ;l

The most important things for Soraka are: CDR>AP>MS=Utility=Mana>Resistances=Flat HP regen>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>HP=percentage-based HP regen. I don't get why so many people think Warmog's -the HP item- on Soraka is a good thing, she's the only champion in the game who is affected negatively by stacking HP. Warmog's is literally the worst possible item in the game to build on her. It offers no AP or CDR which are extremely important for healing her allies and healing herself (healing is the only thing she does besides Equinox), it has no utility, it has no movement speed, and it doesn't even have any resistances. If you're getting it for the HP regen, get HP/5 runes/masteries, and/or get the strength of spirit mastery and get a Tear/Seraph's which will give pseudo-HP via the shield, solve all her mana problems, and give her 120AP for only 2700gold. Recovering HP via Starcall isn't that hard either, and it restores a crazy amount with high AP.

In general, I do not like having a Soraka on my team. I will advise you change your runes though. Flat Armor Quints | Hybrid Pen Marks | Scaling MP5 Seals (or anything if you don't have mana problems) | Flat MR Glyphs. Remember as bot lane you level up slower, and it is imperative to win those early levels. Gold quints and seals do not help your damage or survivability in the early levels. The gold income is negligible anyways, especially compared to taking other runes that will help you early on. Ultimate tip: Don't use gold runes

I main Soraka with great success, so let me tell you what I know. First let's start with some common misconceptions:

HP Regen: Soraka has barely any, especially after last patch, so the new health regen items do nothing. item 3083 effect is the only thing that works on her, after the buff to 3% out of combat it is an option. Otherwise get scaling hp/5 seals or flat quints. Also get a item 2041. item 3065 is good to increase her self healing.

Max HP: It increases her costs, but it also makes you life longer, giving you more time to actually heal or to get a starcall in. You don't wanna stack it, but you should at least get some. Also when you go AP Soraka you actually need the room on your HP bar to put those self heals somewhere.

little known fact: the tooltip on item 3065 is misleading, it works for any heal on you, not only from you, so your teammates with SV benefit from your heal too)

Runes I go with scaling hp/5 seals, armor quints, scaling MR glyphs and armor marks. alternative could be: AP glyphs, flat MR quints, scaling armor seals and armor marks.

Masteries: I go cdr in offense and otherwise full utility.

Starting items: item 1054 can be a choice in difficult matchup, but is not the default, rather: item 3303item 3301 it's a choice depending on your stile and your opponent. Also you may get rid of those gold runes, they are not nearly as effective item 2043item 3340 most games this will be enough until you get Sightstone.

First/Second back: item 3070 So you can spam Starcall and Equinox. item 2041 A lot more heals, especially early. item 2049item 3341 Obvious, depending on the enemy Jungler you may wanna rush it.

Boots item 3274 cheaper and will get you around to heal teammates, but only in, not out. item 3281 more expensive, a little slower but will help you get your team out. item 3158 if you don't build enough cdr otherwise.

Core items item 3165 or item 3504 or both. Really AP and Cdr is what gets you going. Both are among the cheapest items and give teamfight utility. item 3003 finish your tear, AP and health that doesn't increase your cost. item 3092item 3069 dunno, I don't quite like them on Soraka and rather sell the T2 ones.

More item choices item 3157 AP, armor and emergency shield. Don'tr think there is any better. item 3025 Armor, AP, more AP from Archangel, more CC. item 3116 Good chunk of AP and defense, the effect makes it easier to land Equinox. item 3060 AP, MR Aura, Cdr and Soraka can heal the promote minion.

Your opponents should realize that they should focus you (soraka) than your AD carry. In terms of sustain to yourself, unless you can hit your Qs, you have no way to sustain yourself which is a weakness to soraka's kit. Otherwise if they can't burst your ADC down because of your sustain, then take out the source of the problem, right?

In terms of runes and itemization: I rather ditched the gold per sec runes because they don't offer you anything late game, and you should be buying something like spellthief's edge or ancient coin to compensate that you don't get cs from anything. The Doran Shield is nice and all, but I feel you can sustain yourself more with spellthief's and 4 pots than doran's shield and 1 pot.

runes: 9 armor reds 9 health or armor yellows 9 magic resist blues 3 Flat AP or Armor Quints

you'll just be super tanky or tanky with some AP

I go 0/9/21, but it's probably a preference to some people if they want to do something different such as 0/17/13, 9/0/21 or your way.

The current build you listed puts 5% CDR to waste (CDR caps at 40%). Also doesn't allocate extra armor. Though in every game, you'll always need to think about what item you need to buy for your team. I like to play with utilize when I play supports like frozen heart, locket of iron solari, Mikael's crucible. Again, every game is situational, but just be gold efficient with your items.

Ignore those clowns, here is how you want to build:

Your three cores:

  1. Talisman of Ascension - Give you early game movespeed and health/mana regeneration to make your lane safer. Use the active to easily escape ganks.

  2. Boots of Mobility - For faster ambulance fun. Your heal wont cancel it out.

  3. Sightstone - For all your warding needs. Upgrade at end game if you want to.

Your extra three if you have the gold for them:

  1. Mejai's Soulstealer - 5 easy assists every team fight. Get it to twenty stacks and watch those HP bars go up, up, and UP! (Get early only if your team is snowballing out of control.) (If things aren't going well/Your team can't peel Talon away, get a Morellonomicon instead.)

  2. Archangel - A cheap source of AP and mana for your support lane budget, easy to charge up with Star Call. Combines well with the max mana -> HP regen mastery. If you're still stuck in lane and everyone is playing safe, you can rush the Tear part over Soulstealer.

  3. Deathcap - Lots of raw AP to combo with Archangel+Soul Stealer for powering that 1k healing R.

Flat Attack Damage Reds - Make last hitting slightly easier for when your ADC is shopping/dead and you need to defend your tower. Or you just wanna poke the enemy a bit. GP/5 Yellows - Get out those core items ASAP. Scaling CDR blues - More heals and more Starfalls. GP/5 Quints - Get those core items ASAP.

End build stats: +125 movement speed 40% CDR 100% HP Regen 150% Mana Regen 500+ AP +1000 Mana +400 Health Shield Active on Archangel

Be annoying as fuck and keep playing a character that your team wishes they didn't have.
