Trundle's Passive -- Support Making?

Hey there, Master Fledgling here.

Trundle seems pretty cool. And he's the master of disrespect, so that's cool too. Jungling and Top lane are his cup of tea, but can he support too? I don't see him so often, but his passive seems like he would make for a wonderful tank support. His lack of CC (besides some beastly skill wall pinning with W) is the only issue I can see, but he would be healing up constantly with his passive, no last hitting needed. Additionally, so much of his power comes from taking the power of other champions and his free stats all over the place.

He'd probably be best in a sustain, farm lane, only using his pillar when absolutely necessary to block off an ADC or aggressive support.

Lemme know if this has been to done and to what degree of usefulness,

Any champion can support, it's just to what degree are they useful. Trundle doesn't bring anything to the support role that another champion already does there, but better. You want sustain? There are supports that can sustain themselves plus the marksman. You want cc? There's supports with multiple forms of it before level 6. You want armor shred? Taric has that and you don't have to wait until level 6 for it like Trundle does.

You might be able to make it work as a kill lane due to the respectable early game damage Trundle can do, but you'd probably have to pick a marksman with cc themselves. Jinx might work pretty well with him. A pillar/chompers combo could lock someone down for Trundle to actually get close enough to start biting people. He'd be a pretty nice counter pick to an opposing tanky support as well, but only after level 6.

He was played support once in the lcs in season 3 I think.

Support Trundle can work, but there is almost no reason to choose him over someone else who is tanky and better at peeling like Alistar or Braum. Doing a duo kill lane with trundle is amazing though, his high early game damage and extreme sustain means he can stay up in the enemies face and force early kills if laning with another aggressive laner like Pantheon or Rengar
