Just a few questions about ranks

So im a player who normally plays no ranked matches ever, but I thought it would be good to try and get back into the saddle.

I finished last season silver III, but since then Ive increased my normal draft mmr to the point I play 100% with gold/plat players now. And although I realized that the two (ranked and norms) are different as far as transferable skill level, when doing my ranked matches I got matched with some plat players who were duoing with lower tier friends, and they didn't seem any more difficult than what I was used to.

Everyone who was in my previous games who have finished their placements have ended up in silver 1-3. Will it put me there too?

I 100% know I have outgrown silver, (i know I'm not plat, but I'm somewhere in gold for sure).

I just wanted to try and glean where my mmr might be at, how much lower does the system place you than your actual rank?

Does this mean Ill have to climb back up?

I haven't been playing ranked for so long that I have no idea how any of this stuff works!!!

Thanks so much

Where you were ranked last season might not be exactly where your MMR was, but for simplicity we'll assume you had S3 MMR as well; everyone loses something like 150 MMR with the soft reset. You can gain some from your placement matches but 10 games can only get you so much. Most people will drop 1-2 divisions from where they were, but if your MMR was higher than your rank you can even get promoted (compared to where you were).

I was at 0 LP Silver 2 last season, but came out of this season's placements at Silver 1. If you've improved since last time, you'll do great. You'll probably place well so just do the games and don't worry too much about it (don't take forever, you can get gold before time runs out!).
