Help with itemizations, generally ADC items.

I am trying to understand build synergy in certain ADCs. Certain items I can determine fine, but I struggle in my first purchase/item path. So a couple questions to help me understand more.

Why is botrk effective on twitch? Is it the attack speed for his expunge? Would you buy a BF if you had the gold on your first buy or always the cutlass?

What makes ghostblade effective on certain champs given the overall lower attack speed and crit %?

I see more IEs than BT as first item builds. Why is this?

How does a champions curve effect their build?

Where does MF fit in terms of being mainly a caster or auto attacker? Does she have a normal build pattern? I feel she falls in the former early and transitions later.

The only thing I can really recommend when trying out ADC builds is to just fail. Most builds will work reasonably well if played properly; it's about finding one that suits your playstyle. With that said:

I don't really treat MF as a caster at all. She is all AA from the start, while spamming the E for the slow and zoning. It's all damage, don't go hybrid with her. For me, her core is item 3031 item 3153 item 3006 item 3085, followed in almost every situation by a item 3046. Once you have those 5 items it really doesn't matter what you build. I like to go Shiv/BT, but you could build any ADC item. Her core build is insane as is. You'll see her I go for crits and attack speed over damage, and that's because MF's mid-game damage is pretty high as is.

People buile IE over BT because it gives more consistently high damage- when you follow it up immediately with BOTRK (or at least a vamp) and your lifesteal is covered. Farming is easier, kills are easier. BT just does not do as much as IE or BOTRK.

item 3142 is really gold efficient. It's kind of like a baby tri-force. You get your Crit, your damage, your Apen, your CDR, and your attack speed. It's pretty nice.

I can't play Twitch though.

I believe the Twitch thing is just that, the more auto attacks you do, the more passive procs you get on your opponent, and thus the more damage your expunge will deal. As for getting BF early, I'm not really sure about that. I don't play bork rushing ADC's much, and I haven't gained any knowledge of whether or not to rush Bork, even if you have the gold for a BF.

Ghostblade, I think, if I am using Graves as an example (he's my main adc), is useful for kiting, because it gives you burst movespeed AND attack speed. Other than that, I'm not quite sure.

I believe people switched to IE because of the recent BT Attack Damage nerf. It used to be 100, now it's 80, same as IE, and as ADC, you want to do as much damage as possible, so IE's crit chance, and increased crit damage makes for some massive damage once you get it.

  1. Twitch has low AD ratios and an on-hit passive that scales nicely, especially with expunge. He also has an assassin-like playstyle thanks to his stealth, making using the active relatively easy. If you can get item 1038 , go for it, item 3144 can wait. The damage is too good to miss out on.

  2. item 3142 works on casters who like burst. It's especially good on Lucian . I don't have any feelings for this item, since it is kind of slot-inefficent and you'd be better off replacing it near the end-game.

  3. item 3031 has a huge damage spike, I would go so far as to say it doubles your damage output. item 3072 is a sustain item that has lost a lot of its early-game prowess due to lesser AD. In, general, you'd be much better off with the damage of IE than the "safety" of BT.

  4. This'll explain it much better than I ever could.

Bork gives the slow and attack speed so twitch can 1v1 from stealth (say you stalk someone and wait for them to put their spells on cd) the slow also helps give you time to go into stealth and run away. Attack soured gives faster procs.

B.f it's good for champs that have ad scaling, because it makes their spells hit harder ( like Cait q and Draven axe)

Ghost BLADE Is cheap for when you are behind, and it gives arm pen ( If you are behind its likely the other team has resistance bought already) the early brut is good vs tanky supports, and casters like lucian allow for their damage to do alot more in early game trades.

I.e gives more damage than bt, and early fights are short so the shield from bt isn't going to help you much. If you are doing long stake mate lanes where you are just farming the life steal will help negate the pokes.

Don't know what a Champion curve is.

Mf is both. She is very bursty and can do both.

IE is bought instead of BT because it makes an adc super threatening at 2 completed items (with Phantom dancer or statik shiv). A BT is just as good if not better as a single item (the lifesteal sustain is much better in Lane and trades and for teamfights than 25% crit with the bonus damage, but at 55% crit the IE takes the cake.

Ghostblade also has flat armour pen, it's more pen than last whisper against opponents with under 50 armour I think. It also has a movement speed active on a low cooldown; great for chasing someone down, getting away, or kiting. Also works well with blade of the ruined King's active.

BotRK also gives % health damage, which is good against tanks and high health opponents, and is particularly good late game. Perhaps twitch uses it for this affect but I'm not sure.

MF is a burst adc, I wouldn't put her as a caster because her sustained single target damage comes from auto attacks still, but her abilities allow her to damage an entire team in a contained fight. She is team comp specific, being the most useful with people like j4 or Leona who can trap multiple enemies in a small area for her.

Sorry I couldn't answer everything, hope this helps though.
