So, i picked up these champions mostly because of how angry they make the enemy and ive been having pretty decent success with both in the top lane and they both are fun to play in my opinion. Despite me doing fairly well, my team generally hates that i pick either of them. out of shaco and teemo who would you rather have in your top lane and why? and if you could what should i do in team fights with teemo? lol i cant really figure out what to do outside of split pushing

why ? Teemo becomes a verry effiecient split pusher when having aome ap and 
shaco also becomes a great split pusher
but his real power is his early powerfull ganks and his ability to make the enemy jg his life fucking misserable
Shaco is my favorite champion in the game. He is also the most fun imo. I've had great success as an AD jungler both assassin and bruiser play styles and I've had success as an AP mid and top laner. His Ap laning is a little slow at first but once you get your ult it is awesome and allows for so many out plays vs assassins.
For jungle ad shaco my #1 priority is to remove the enemy jungler from the game for the first 10 minutes or so. It's pretty common for me to have all 4 starting buffs and 1 or both of the 2nd round buffs.
As to your question, teemo is better for toplane and brings a little bit more than a top lane shaco. Both are hated for their own reasons but I love playing both for those reasons :D
I'd prefer a Teemo top over a Shaco top. If you have to play Shaco, most people get less upset about him jungling because his early ganks are actually quite good, so they will like you for the start of the match at least. Nobody really likes either of those two though, which is what makes them not garbage right now (you can get the enemy to rage quit pretty easily), but certainly don't expect your team to be supportive of your choice, because a bad Shaco or Teemo (which most people expect from them) is just as rage inducing to your own team as a good one is to the other team.
Basically, the only way for your team to actually like your pick is if you are very good at them and make it obvious you are playing seriously, not trolling.
I'd use Teemo top over Shaco top. Shaco's better as a jungler than a top in my opinion, his ganks are good and he's very fun in the jungle. Teemo's passive is just OP fun, hide in the middle of the enemy team and wait. So, personally, I'd use Teemo top over Shaco top, but it's your choice.
