how i improve, and how you can improve your gameplay
Disclaimer: I am Currently Silver 5, letting you know before i get trolled by someone saying "omg u noob i look u up, u only s5 lolol u suck". These are just basics tips that I PERSONALLY USE(D) to get better and improve your gameplay. By reading this, you are not going to be D1 by tomorrow. I am not promising anything either.

First and foremost, pick a champ/role you want to master, and a role. I see in lower elo that people tend to "fill", yes they can play any champ at a pretty decent skill level, but that's not what you want to do. Have a designated role/lane. When I first started, I picked Ryze, for some odd reason. I told myself I wasn't going to pick any other champ until I know the In's-and-out's about this champ. I do not claim to be a pro with Ryze, but I am pretty confident of my abilities, and I tend to carry 7/10 of the games I play with him. So stick to a champ, I did nothing but Team Builder Mode for like a week straight, picking Top Lane.

Look up videos on Youtube. Yes I am serious about this one. Look up how the pros play the champ you want to master. Youtube has just about any champ playing at a high elo level, including Urgot and Viktor. Bust out your notepad, and study their positioning, starting items, core items, and final builds. You can also see some nice combos, that you can try to execute yourself, these do take practice though. You are not going to do a flash+hook+lantern combo with Thresh right away.

Practice with bots, a lot of people think this is a waste of time, and I can also agree. But bots are good way to practice lane freezing, and last hitting minions and turrets. Things you can't really practice if you are playing a live game because the enemy will harass you if you do. They are also a good way to practice your skill shots against bots by learning the basic concepts of movement predictions.

Runes and Masteries. Believe it or not, these help A LOT. Low elo players think these don't matter, but they do. I have different Runes and Masteries for every champ. Runes and Masteries make your champion more effective in the "field of justice". If you don't know how to build, you can go to probuilds.com, or just ask me, and i'll look it up for you and i'll try to give you the answers ASAP.

There's never enough wards. Ever seen a high elo game? EVERYONE buys wards, it's not like your average low elo game where everyone blames support for not warding the whole map. Most high elo players buy wards after their first recall, and exchange their trinket for a lens. A trinket is not enough. Stop being cheap and lazy, and spent the extra 75-100 gold for a ward.

Learn to counter-play, and counter pick. Every champ has a few weaknesses, figure them out, and exploit them. This is what I mean for counter-play. Let's take one of my hardest match-ups with Ryze. Usually People will try to counter me with xerath. Xerath is weak against enemies who can close the gap, such at zed, kassadin, kat, etc. Ryze is not very good at that, thus Xerath can harass Ryze all day. Instead of buying Saphh crystal, I start off with boots so i can trade hits better, and dodge their abilities (my speed with Ryze is 405 with boots, and sp Quints). Now Counter picking, means when you pick a champ who will counter another champ. self explanatory. But let me put this into perspective. One of my ranked games, enemy team picked Thresh support (I main support now, and Thresh is my best support champ), I hardly use Morgana, but I know Morgana counters Thresh with black shield. Black shield makes all of thresh's abilities useless. In order for the Thresh to win bot lane, he has to out play us, which is really hard to do because i would just spam my shield on my AD carry to keep him safe.

Situational Awareness, and Attention to Detail. Pay attention to what's going around in your minimap. did enemy leave lane? did jungler gank top lane? Use pings to communicate information to your team. usually when a fight breaks out in a lane, the players that are fighting aren't paying attention to the map, they are paying attention to their health, and the enemy's health. use pings to alert your teammates of a gank if you see someone. If jungler is ganking top, push bot. Pay attention to enemy's action. Is he pushing on low health? you can bet it's a bait. Jungle is waiting on brush, or he has heal and is ready to use it against you.

Take advantage of 2 v 1. It is really easy to tower dive if you coordinate with your team correctly. Of course you never want to tower dive when your enemy is full health, unless you guys are super fed. But during a situation where support recalls and ADC is left alone, poke him a lot. Or don't let him last hit your minions.

Review your gameplay, try to remember what you did right and what you did wrong. what worked well, and what didn't work well.
this is the end of my tips, it's 3am and I have to go sleep because i have work in about 4 hours. if i continue writing i'm just going to go into a tangent.
i hope this helps.
