'Rare' pick for Jungle/Support?

Onwodori·11/12/2014, 3:08:23 AM·1 votes·11,470 views

Hey there, Master Fledgling here.

So. On my apparently perpetual quest for a champion to main and a main to champion (Yes, that makes sense both directions -- English Major) I have boiled down a few things to certainties:

1 - I main the Jungle and Support 2 - I like tanks or champions with MAD escape skills 3 - I am a hipster I like champions that are rarely picked so I can main them uninterrupted

From all this, names like Galio, Yorick and Zac all come to mind, though that middle one is getting a hefty rebuild, apparently.

Not exactly sure what I am in need of help with, but perhaps I would like some info on how these champions operate and if they would be feasible in the positions of support and jungle.

Many thanks and may your cup spillith over,

-MF

Try Skarner jungle. I used to play Maokai support once in a while. Keep the saplings at level one. Just use them as ward relief if you're out of wards and have to stay. Use Runes and Masteries for a ton of armor and build relic shield. You can get away with leaping on their adc quite often and just healing it back with shield and passive. The initiate is pretty strong and zones them well. The ult and passive both work nice in bot-lane.

You pretty much mimic Leona and perform a lot like her. But, you're a tree.

I like jungle Malzahar - it's the unexpected pick that I actually typically do quite well with. Lulu is a strong support who isn't being used much nowadays.

IM HIPSTER TOO

Hahahaha I like to play rare champs, or not common champs to generaly surprise others and this is an advantage for me. For example: -I enjoy Galio support and mid -Blitzcrank Jungle makes great ganks -And generally not so common champs: Quinn Yorick Viktor

I have played Galio support with great success, but I found him lacking in jungle. His clear is slow and he requires assists to even keep up. Once you fall behind, it is nearly impossible to close up again.

Whith the new jungle it's anyone's guess what will work, but clears seem to be more difficult.

One of my favourites is Alistar , he is also somewhat slow in jungle, but still fast enough and his ganks are crazy. He can do a game 5/0/15 with nothing more than boots of swiftness and is not picked too often either.

Nautilus is very rarely picked, but known to work in both positions, though he is deemed not the greatest support.

Blitzcrank is a weird jungler, he can literally steal the enemy buffs, but he is too popular as support.

Poppy is still rarely picked, but should work rreally well in both positions

Fiddlesticks is a champ that works in the jungle as well as support

He's not meta

I wouldn't say he's got mad escape skills, but he can disengage easily with his fear

maybe Nautilus I've seen him played support

Diana jungle and Nautilus Supp You're welcome!

I like Mundo support alot, he's the most "unconventional" that i've played.

  • Max Q first

  • Build FotM and sightone, the rest is the usual mundo build

  • I go with masteries; 0/26/4 for utility i take the MS and Scout

  • For Runes same as top Mundo

Zac is a super hard support to play because his abilities are very dive centric like leona, but he doesn't get the extra Resistances and his CC is all skill shots and kind of telegraphed. I've seen it work once, but that is the only time I've EVER seen it.

I'm not a galio player so i really can't give any positive input here, but i've seen people play him in both successfully.

I'd also look at Leona, but I'm not sure how successful as a jungler, but I've heard it can be successful. She is a clear support pick and can work well.

While he has fallen out of favor you could try naut. He is naturally a jungler, but he can and has been a very tanky support.

Those are the top ones that I've seen go over decent as both a jungler and support. Its not limited to those, but you could look at them.

My MAINS Are: Irelia Shyvana Lux Thresh Quinn

Most popular ones are Irelia and thresh, gonna quit Shyv jungling as it isn't that viable, even in silver. Irelia and shyv can be a tanky Dps champion, both have escapes, not so much irelia as its single target offensive. Lux has 2 forms of cc so kinda hard to gank. Quinn's E has a great disengage/engage,her ult is also.

Can Vlad support? I know he doesn't really have CC, but he has truly unlimited poke and sustain, as well as invulnerability and some of the best diving ever. He would be a decent choice if anyone has tried him ever.

Also, I am amazed, touched and sort of honored to have gotten so much kind, insightful feedback from you all, Rioters in particular!! Thank you so much. I know this community can be a bit rough sometimes, but it can also be really nice ^_^ So thanks for being that nice side.

And I think I'll go with Galio, as he covers most of everything I need, an I love his story -- it's so cute and bittersweet. Plus, I hear he is getting a bit of a buff recently -- his abilities scaling with MR and AP, giving him an actual passive.

Thanks again for all the advice,

Jungle: rare maybe Karthus, Heimerdinger... and many that have AoE ability... Support: as long as they have CC and Heal is OK...

canadianForces11/12/2014, 3:14:10 AM1 votes

i would say rare jungle kartus in good hand he is a monster

for support i would say naut so much stun

Darius jungle especially if you are an earlier pick. People will try to counterpick with something like Teemo Quinn and end up getting countered back http://matchhistory.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/#match-details/NA1/1618658070/202985629

Super juke here with Darius first pick then Shaco second. My own team thought we were trolling :O

http://matchhistory.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/#match-details/NA1/1617251804/202985629 them thinking Panth jungling. His early level invades do LOTS of damage and can set their jungler back pretty hard

Chogath jungle

Flemman11/12/2014, 11:59:13 AM1 votes

skarner support is annoying as hell for adc with no escape, max his slow and it's free poke for your lane during 2 second

Brenticus1211/12/2014, 12:09:29 PM1 votes

Shaco support is best support. Try it, they'll never try to facecheck a bush ever again.

Of course, this requires you to have a decent ADC who can engage properly when you're all over the place fearing and slowing everyone. Otherwise you'll get caught out and blown up.

Champion Skin11/12/2014, 12:33:33 PM1 votes

You can try Cho'gath he has lots of CC and pretty good base damages However if tried to play as support he will probably suffer from mana problems as his abilities/spells are rather expensives and his passive is wasted

ThatWerido11/12/2014, 3:19:10 PM1 votes

Gangplank support is one of my favourites, especially in certain matchups where he can act as a super aggressive support.

DrCyanide11/12/2014, 6:11:58 PM1 votes

For Jungle, a friend of mine has been doing AD Fizz and having a blast with it. Fizz's passive gives him a ton of survivablity in the jungle, and he's defiantly mobile enough to fit your playstyle.

For Support, you might be able to pull off Urgot. His passive reduces the damage dealt by the other laner, he has an ability that shreds armor (good news for your ADC), he can be tanky, he has a slow, and his ult is a suppress/slow. I've only tried it once, but it seems plausible if you're willing to put in the effort to figure out your build. (We won, but I think I ended up with more kills than my ADC...)

MastèrBaitèr11/12/2014, 9:20:03 PM1 votes

I play Support jarvan and support rengar, those work well.

Jungle ez is great if you learn how to kite mobs.

Tank support riven is a good one too. She has tons of cc and with her survi +face of the mount she can keep the enemy cc'ed for a while+ do some dmg.
