Would anyone be able to help me with a matchup tip?

Just last game I played irelia vs a renekton, I started flask 3 pot (couldnt wait for 4 pot because our amumu wanted a leash)

The renekton cleared a camp lv 1 and teleported back to lane, with a d-blade+5 pot

being renekton, i felt there was no way for me to out trade him and just took what cs i could, got 3 ranks in E, and backed ~ 1000 gold and teled to lane with crystal+ 2 cloth armor. He went bami cinder so i was able to farm under tower the entire laning phase. I was down 30 cs at 20 minutes, so i feel i wasnt doing the best i could have. We eventually won because I was willing to suicide onto their carries and let our fed carries (who had got the ganks) melt their front line. HOWEVER what could i have done to have won this lane, can irelia outtrade renekton? Knowing there was no-way for me to get ganks (and he was getting some) was my playing passive and sacrificing cs the right desicion since I outscale him eventually?

Also would anyone who plays renekton be interested in adding me so I can practice this matchup?!

Thanks so much-macbethandcheese

So part of it is the level disadvantage. I play heimer top usually so I have a better excuse (I just say I have to set up lane and can only auto once or twice for a leash so they may want to get leash bot side), but if you leash for jungle you should say "I'll definitely leash, but it will probably put me way behind in lane, so can you gank early on just to relieve pressure? We don't need a kill, just help me chunk them so I can catch up in CS/EXP since I'll be a bit behind" A lot of jungles will just go bot side for a leash and ask you to ward their top buff if you say this bc they don't want to be forced to gank or be responsible for a lane being behind, and then you can push the lane to make up for exp if the enemy is taking a camp.

Other than that I don't know the Irelia vs Renekton match up well enough to say :( but being really up front that you're at a disadvantage and gonna need help and you're sorry for that but can't change it is the only really option if you're set that far behind early. A level advantage when you're vs a bully champ and you're on something that scales well late game can be a death sentence bc you can't keep up early and they get enough of a lead you can't out scale them before team fights start. That's my experience playing as a bully at least. If I get an advantage and they don't get an early gank, then I can get ahead enough that by the time they do get a gank it doesn't matter bc I can 1v2. Hope that was somewhat helpful, sorry if it wasn't.
