Do I ward enough?

I'm just curious do I ward enough? I buy a lot of green wards for 75 gold. I rarely buy pinks because it think they're too expensive, I would buy them if they were slightly cheaper (maybe 90 gold). Feel free to look at my match history. Please consider the length of the game and look at the circle graph that shows the amount of wards placed.

As a support main, I used to ward 35 wards per game.

I ward around 28 wards per game now. I did that by:

  1. Buying around 2 pinks per game
  2. Knowing better when to place the wards (like knowing common gank timings)
  3. Knowing where to place wards (High traffic areas instead)
  4. Increasing my ward radius (related to #3)
  5. Improving my map awareness (related to #3,4)

So for around 200g, I've saved 525g. So a Net of 325g throughout the whole game.

But my map awareness sometimes does not translate to my team mates. I hate how my ADCs would go ward the bot river brush when I have the middle river brush, the enemy raptors (between dragon), the enemy red and krugs warded. We have full vision of when their jungler enters their jungle and what they are doing or when their mid lane roams but he goes and waste a ward. I'd rather him ward the lane brushes instead and use that to stop that brush zoning.

You seem to ward plenty, but consider upgrading your trinket to the Greater Stealth Totem item 3361 more often to save gold and get more out. Unless you need a constant supply of Pink wards for dueling with a stealth champion, you probably don't need to default to the Greater Vision Totem item 3362.

Oh and Pink wards are worth it as long as you don't repeatedly put them in high risk spots where they'll easily get found. At the bare minimum, you can put one in your own jungle to help against counter-jungling and whatnot.

Buy pink wards. Yes, they can be expensive, but that's because they're permanent unless destroyed, and can reveal hidden units. Buy them. If you're concerned that people are destroying them, then place them in less traveled spots. They still provide good vision.

item 3151 you don't upgrade your item 3340 to item 3361

Really, if you spend that 250 gold then you don't have to buy any wards after that. At which point you can always have 3 wards down on the map at a time. Otherwise you seem to be doing good warding, always something worth keeping in mind as the game goes on.

Buying and placing a GOOD pink ward is better then 10 green wards and you save a lot of money, Middle i buy 1 pink maybe my 2nd time back. Depending on the lane though, Support first buy back i get a pink for tri, top lane you only want to pink if youre winning lane and can bully him away from your pink if he tries to kill, And middle its better to keep wards at the entrance of the river bushes.

You seem to do alright at warding, but I notice you BUY a lot of wards without ever upgrading your trinket.

Wards alone are expensive, it's why the first or second item of a support will be the sightstone. They save a lot of money over time by purchasing it. You should think the same way with upgrading your trinket. After you upgrade it, you really won't need to purchase wards, allowing you to invest that money into the rest of your item build.

Also, pink wards are a great investment as a defensive measure. You don't have to place it in the bushes in the river. You can throw it in the bush at your blue or in the bush near raptors. It keeps an eye out for your jungle in that area, and also helps keep enemy wards out. (suggesting they're not taking your inner turrets already.)

Your warding is fine in terms of usage. Another thing to consider is ward placement to ensure the best vision which is really determined by you and your team really, because many players don't always take the same routes.

As for the pink wards, I used to think they were expensive and wasteful since a lot of the time they would be demolished just after I placed them. But it really depends when and where you placed the pink ward, they can last the entire game or a few seconds. Give it a try, and think about where they would benefit the most. Unlike green wards, pink wards will last forever until someone finds them and destroys them.

Upgrade the yellow trinket ASAP.

I did the most warding on my team (and in the game) in my last Katarina game because of it.
