Zed should be punished for making this stupid play.

This is a minor change that should be made to Zed if they do this stupid play. Once I was under my turret and recalling and at the last second of my recall, my enemy mid laner zed ulted me and when that happened, I grinned because I was expecting him to blink behind me and get destroyed by my obelisk turret after I recalled. Instead, when I successfully recalled, his ult was removed from me. I feel like if a Zed makes this stupid play, their ult should stay and they should get destroyed by the obelisk turret when they blink behind their target who successfully recalled.

He was punished by wasting his ult.

Vanic99810 votes

But that's it? I feel like he needs more punishment.

Tonyob204 votes

Maybe he immediately went back to his shadow?

Vanic9988 votes

He can't. If I'm right, there is a .5 second delay before he can return to his shadow. .5 sec should have been enough for the obelisk turret to kill the Zed anyway.

Crossette3 votes

Zed can't return to his shadow unless he's within a certain radius.

That's a FAR ass radius.

Akali is SO HOT3 votes

Zed can return to his ult shadow no matter how far away from it he is

Crossette4 votes

why

falldown0103 votes

because riot loves zed, they woudnt want to touch their precious zed who excels at everything and destroying everything

also he's populair like on a lee sin level , so yeah

Handin Out Naps3 votes

Excels at everything... he doesn't even excel at reliably killing ppl lmao. He has been nerfed multiple times so idk what you are getting at.

Handin Out Naps5 votes

That's only his w.

Narasimha5 votes

Only his W, his ult has a global jump.

Penns40 votes

Doesnt Zeds ult cooldown get refunded when he ults someone just before he finishes recalling?

Vanic9984 votes

Is That true?

Ralanr12 votes

...What? Why would that be a refund? That's too specific.

poseidonfir336 votes

it is refunded to 10 seconds

Vanic99822 votes

Well that's dumb. Riot is trying to protect the stupid players.

Handin Out Naps22 votes

If that's how it worked Zed would follow tps across the map by pressing r. I'm sure you don't want it to work like that.

hgjkdlsaf jeldvb2 votes

and players could be rewarded for that...

FantasySniper3 votes

That would actually make it pretty interesting.

No they're not, it would be dumb if Zed could do this, imagine him following teleports across the map with it.

Or should we also have Lee Sin follow you to base?

Topic just feels like another salty Zed hater, complaining about irrelevant stuff.

"Or should we also have Lee Sin follow you to base?"

Yes. Why not! Making great plays should be rewarded.

This reminds of me something that happened in DotA 2. There's this hero, Huskar, whose ult makes him leap at you. You can outrun it if you're fast enough or just using certain heroes who have insane MS steroids. Needless to say, I ran him all the way back to my fountain once as Clinkz.

Azteryz2 votes

Well the same thing happens with cait ult too tho

Penns3 votes

Idk actually.. I think I confused Zeds with Darius ult because Zed ult has no cast time lol

Steelflame8 votes

They actually got rid of stuff like that because he could use it to follow global ults TPs like TF and Shen, as well as TPs. Losing the recall ulti hilarity isn't that big a deal in comparison him losing the ability to chase anyone across the map if they try to TP.

Vanic9982 votes

Really? So zed following people with his ult was once possible?

Steelflame4 votes

I've followed a Shen ult 2-3 times back when it was, and I barely even played Zed. It took damn near perfect timing, but yes you could do it. People who played tons of Zed could have done it on command probably.

Mhihnj6 votes

So Shen used to help Zed back then?

Johnny Scythe6 votes

I completely agree. I've seen some wtf moments videos from YouTube and I've seen auto attacks and targeted abilities literally FOLLOW their target when they recall of times right. Zed's ult, being a targeted ability, shouldn't interact any different.

SwapShadows6 votes

Literally no ability works like that, is this another excuse to hate on Zed? lol

Zed's ult and many other types of abilities do not follow a person if they travel a huge distance or die.

Vanic9985 votes

Actually, if you well time a targeted ability, it can. Try watching some machinima realm on YouTube. There're some cases like that. I'm not hating on Zed. I just think that it should have been a free kill.

I feel like if a Veigar ult did that, it'd either chase all the way into the fountain or disintegrate into nothing.

This is kind of like the same thing when you latch onto someone with...let's say, a leona E and try to flash but you just bring her with you.

LatetotheRace3 votes

I've been chased by both a soraka banana rang, and even a gangplank parley.

Anybody else reminded of All-Stars?

1v1s? Resets?

Good old times. Shows how little Riot cares about ARAM

Partholonian2 votes

You can't recall in ARAM. The interaction was specific to that game mode that has both recall AND snowball available.

I once activated Lee's q on a nocturne that ulted me at the same time. The game bugged out and we flew threw the air and circled each other about 3 times before landing and the Noc died on impact. It was glorious.

This was around season 2 so idk if it is still possible.

L0ve Is Blue3 votes

He would've just blinked back the second he saw what happened. Because he can.

Vanic99814 votes

There is a .5 sec delay before he can do that.

Cogito Ergo Sol 3 votes

The cooldown is only refunded if the target dies before Zed appears behind him. If you ult as Zed when someone is recalling you waste your ult. I mean, that's what happened to me at least

Jari2 votes

I can confirm from the time I played Zed, it will go down to 10 seconds if Zed fails to teleport behind the target due to a recall, tp, or whatever.

PePsiLemoNN3 votes

Even if that happens he would press R to blink half of map back to lane

Vanic9983 votes

He can't. There is a .5 sec delay before he can do that. By then the obelisk turret would have killed him already.

JimmyTheTacoMan1 votes

I've done something similar before in a bot game. Ult a bot then TP top lane from the bottom lane and then just R back since it had no range. (pretty sure it still has an unlimited range but I haven't tried it in a while)

DorkunedAuras1 votes

R still has unlimited range. His W has quite finite range though.

JimmyTheTacoMan2 votes

Thx for the reply, I knew about the W but its still funny that the ulti doest have a max range.

Just going to put this out there.

The vast majority of Zed complainers are of the same game intelligence of the OP that barely understand simple game mechanics like targeted dashes/blinks not following a target if they travel around 2000 units+ instantly.

Seriously man? I can see that you disagree with me but do you have to be rude about it? So weird out of the many people who have commented not agreeing and disagreeing, you and 2 other players can't handle a simple discussion.

Yes actually I do, Zed complainers have the most toxic attitude towards players who actually like Zed meanwhile they have barely any clue on how simple game mechanics work.

It's hard to get your point across on these boards when threads like "Wish zed could stop being the best midlaner lolz" or similar gets mega upvoted by people similar to you, no offence just facts.

Well, good thing that this thread wasn't intended to be like those. I never said that zed was op. I just think that this particular interaction is worth discussing. And trust me, I'm not toxic. I've never received a ban or any other punishment toxic related. To be honest, I don't hate on Zed. It's only this interaction in particular.
