Being a good-er Jungler...

Hey there, Master Fledgling here.

So my two main roles are Jungle and Support. Support is pretty simple: I keep my ADC safe, get them fed and set up kills for them when applicable. Get a sight stone. Wipe the baby drool off of my ADC's face occasionally. Adorable.

But, jungling is tougher -- I often need to babysit everyone, or at least two lanes, but then I need to clear my camps too and stay up to level? That's really hard! Some champs do nothing but ganking which works, but ganks can fail and often do, and a failed gank does not give you much in the way of gold or EXP. It's easy to fall behind that way. And then, the champs that are good at ganking often aren't so great at farming, and farming champions vice versa.

So, what's the balance? Also, a consistent issue I am facing is that a lane starts feeding and becomes worthless, and from their it spirals out of control. How do you stop a lane from doing this? Sit on them and ignore their complaints about CS taken in order to stay relevant?

Many thanks,

-MF

PS -- My main junglers are Gangplank, Fiddlesticks, Shen (New), Alistar (Cinderhulk's bringing sexy back) Karthus, Gragas, Sion, Poppy and Malphite. Some sound off color but they are all junglers and are what I am used to. So if any of them are you expertise or excel at staying on top of levels while applying pressure, PLEASE let me know! Cheers.

If you burn a flash/herass a champ its a sucessgul gank

if a lane is dieing take there cs when there gone if he dies again tell him to hug tower until u can gank

if he feeds ignore that lane give him 0 ganks unles your possitove you can get the kill

Dont worry to much about falling behind just keep on going

only jungler of those i use is fiddle wich his ganks arent the greatest in my opinion unles there really over extending whenever i play him i focus on getting drags asap

dont take a lanes cs unless you need it cause you can almost get a big item or it has to be pushed into tower asap or the laner isnt there

My tip, if theres no jungle camps nearby to clear just do a drive-by, doesnt take very long and just head back to farming Your main concern isnt a successful gank.. or to kill the other guy, none of that Just damaging the other laner, scare em off, apply pressure, show them that your around fuqing DO SOMETHING...can help out your laner

My personal favorites are fast jungler... you got all these slow ass mtherfkers, cant help you there Any champ that can get around the rift really quickly Hecarim Rammus Udyr RekSai ur a fking celebrity and your rift tour gotta go fast -_-

Exactly ive had a few times when everything seemed warded and i couldnt gank the mid laner somehow when i showed up he went to tower yet my laner was behind in hp allot

I was playing jg nid i understood i was not going to kill him

so instead i just stayed in lane a bit longer trew about 4 spears at him and manage to hit one While using my heal on my team mate, he was now ahead in lane balance restored

If your lane is starting to feed you need to make a split decision. Will you hug or will you leave the lane on its own? Nightblue3 once said, never gank a losing lane unless its a guarantee kill. These kinds of decisions have to be made on the fly. Theres games where bot is feeding and flaming that I haven't ganked once, but yet mid and top are hella fed and they can start roaming to make plays instead of relying on me to make all the fog plays. Bot gets fed from top tps and mid ganks, i rotate over to hold lane, problem solved. It's best to get mid fed and then two man gank with them, cuz if you show up to a fed lane, you might just end up feeding them yourself.

Don't ever sit in a losing lane and soak up their farm. You are not a babysitter. By doing that the other team has free roam of the entire map. Knowing you're in a lane allows the other lanes to push up hard. The advantage of you NOT being visible is loss. Huge advantage enemy team. Never stay in a lane for too long, and NEVER back while under enemy vision. Go back into jungle and then back.

P.S. think of your presence as being 4/4. While not in enemy vision, your map presence is 4/4, all lanes and enemy jungler have to be wary of you. If you're spotted in top lane your map presence becomes 1/4. Only one possible location for you to be. Therefore, if the other team is smart, they'll play a lot more aggressively. Staying in a lane for the entire lane phase nets you a grand total of 1/4 map presence. Map presence is the key to good jungling.

there is no exact balance between ganking and farming. the jungler's play is very situational and will differ every game so you have to use judgement. there are games where there are ganking opportunities 24/7 and there are others in which you will be, and should be, farming all early game because lane kill potential doesnt exist.

my advice is to consider kill potential in deciding whether or not to gank a lane. don't waste the time if you're pretty sure your gank won't be successful. it also helps to anticipate when a laner will need assistance. know which of your lanes are susceptible to enemy jungle ganks and try and countergank to possibly save your laners.

as with any role, you will naturally lose many games regardless of your play. if your laners are dying repeatedly to their counterparts, there's a good chance you won't be able to do much. don't use your win-loss record exclusively to determine whether you are jungling effectively or not. just focus on making the correct decisions.

i know the junglers you mentioned are your preferred junglers, but if your goal is to climb the ranked ladder, you have to know you're severely limiting your climbing potential with several of those picks, which lack the traits of effective junglers such as the ability to move quickly around the map, strong early game ganking, good late game scaling, and reliable CC. again, only limiting if you're more concerned about ranked than having fun.
