What are some goals or requirements one should achieve before breaking into the Ranked scene?

play once you really understand this game once you see other peoples mistakes and know how to make an advantage out of it understand things like not to chase kils but know what to do instead ( often something like go back to lane and force them to go there aswel or lose a tower )

be sure you have played jungle and suport for a while even if you are more of a laner cause this makes you understand in what a stupid position you are putting yourself if you are not warding or overextending

My best role is support. Thresh, Leona, Nami, Janna and Morgana are my best five supports. If I have to carry then I prefer mid lane. I am decent at ADC and top. Jungle is where I have the least amount of experience. Bots do not teach very well when it comes to jungling.

What I'm saying is to be successful in ranked "solo que" you have to have a mindset to carry yourself before even committing to your team. Yes it's a team game but by u roaming and getting fed you are helping your team in the same you're carrying. If you fall on the support main in solo que you will be destined bronze/silver for a while. Reasons I say this is carrying with a support is hard unless you go annie support. Also you have to depend on an adc with an unknown skill level. Also if you fall behind u have to depend on your team to carry you, which in my book is bad. Be the best player on your team every game. Practice a lane that you can carry in and help your team "when" you can not when hey "want" it.

I sound salty but I'm not. I was stuck in bronze silver so long because I was picking team comp champs, playing for the team and we lost cuz of skill caps. Wether it was mine or teammates. Play to better yourself and play to learn not win. Guarantee once you do this wih mechanics and experience you'll get To gold/plat.

Been playing jungle a whole lot on a smurf account. Trying to get the feel of it. Had a recent game where all 3 of my lanes fed. I was the only smurf on my team I think. They had at least 3 on their team. Even with a loss I still did better than 4/5 of the people on their team. Got an A- on the champ mastery thing. Not that it matters, but its a personal victory. Still got a ways to go. I'm going to try to learn that role as my main carry role. I actually think this is terrible advice. You win more games through teamwork than solo carrying. (totally my opinion though)

My advice was very specific to low elos. You can beat your head against a rock trying to get some players to act as a team and they will still think what they are doing is more important. As you get higher in the ranks/elo you start to get more averagely compitent teammates. But bronze/silver/low gold it's so hit or miss, I suggest you try ur hardest every game to carry yet like I said it's still a team game so what you do by getting fed, taking objectives, saving teammates... In all respects is teamwork. Just be your best teammate.

If you have 2 full rune pages and 2-3 champions you can play for each role.

Most of the people who play League of Legends do it in ranked mode, don't be nervous about it or feel the need to ultra-prepare.

Huh? That's a pretty easy goal to meet. There are plenty of champions you can buy that cost less than 3150, and if you slowly fill our your rune pages one rune at a time, they'll be complete pretty quickly.

You mean to tell me that all these people have just 10000 ip saved up for no reason? If you are spending all of the IP you gathered from levels 1-30, and you didn't JUST spend it on 6300 ip champions, you should be able to meet this goal extremely easily.

I remembered it as this: I bought all 450 IP champs (Is there 14 of them?), one for 1350 IP and one for 6300 IP and barely had enough to get two rune sets.

I'm not saying you HAVE to have this stuff before you even hit level 30, just to start ranked once you get this stuff.

It's hardly an unreachable 'dream' to get there.

you should know how to play at least 5 champions "decently" and 2 of them "really good"

pick a role pick a lane pick a champion play champion in that lane being that role, until you master it. do it again for a new champion.

My best role is actually support. Jungle is my worst. Mid lane is my best carry lane. I prefer mages and anything with CC. When I go top lane I prefer to be bruiser style champions, but can play tanks decently well too.

Like I said, just try and you'll be fine. People don't really rage at anyone just for losing. Those people are rare. The people that complain that they always get raged at and the community is so toxic are the ones that are picking Lulu and running down mid lane repeatedly, to die on purpose. Then they cry to rito and rito is dumb and bans the other people.

If your playing this game just for fun, i recommend never playing ranked lol. bt if you really want to play ranked then understand each role and wat it does, know how to play well, farm, or not feed in each role and just mute everyone that annoys you without saying anything. it will save you so much pain

Yup. Have been a veteran bots player for about 3 years. Just started back into PvP a couple weeks ago. The players I have been playing against in normals are... not as good as I remembered them being a couple years ago. So now that I know that I can hang with the typical PvP player I've been playing normals more often. I really don't have a competitive nature, I probably wouldn't enjoy the ranked atmosphere. I'm just curious what ranking I would get if I ever did play ranked. I'm probably somewhere in high bronze/low silver. I've been told I underestimate myself but I still think that's more accurate than some people referring to me as being a gold caliber support. I'll see how things go if I ever do play ranked.

I've only played maybe 50 games on here in PvP. The closest I ever came to a penta was when I got a Quadra as Nami support. And in those 50 games I have helped 4 teammates get pentas. Pentakills are more about confidence boosts anyway. They're nice but in the long run they really don't directly influence winning the game. I know enough about the game that shoving mid lane after a triple kill is more important than hunting down the enemy top laner and jungler to complete the penta kill. But thanks for showing me how to succeed in Bronze in case I have the misfortune of getting placed there.

I got a penta on Kog'maw, but that was ARAM. I've only played 50 PvP games and thats including the ones I lost. And as I stated before Pentakills are nice but I've gotten so many of them in bots I really don't see it as a grand accomplishment. I just see less obstacles in my way from taking down an inhibitor.

In silver, play stable champions and lane bullies so the people who climbed out of bronze playing their akalis and fioras get their dicks kicked in by the Renekton/cho picks.

If you have 3 adequate champions for each position (minimum about 8 since there are some flex picks), continue. Note that you must actually be able to win with these champs.

Finally, Take a screwdriver and jam it into your arm as hard as you can. if you don't bleed, your skin is thick enough and you may queue.

Honestly, You're ready for ranked when you want to be. it really is different than normals from a mentality standpoint though.

Well I got 4 of them. 1 for AP, 1 for AD, 1 for support and 1 for Hybrid. I guess if I get a 5th rune page I'll make it full on tank stuffs.

If you have the runes, shift hybrid to something to fit your tankier champs. Don't be afraid to request spots, doubly so if you don't have good runes for other ones, but don't EVER say you only have rune pages for X. it'll put despair in their play but they won't dodge because reasons. they'll flame you hard and you'll lose to each other before even the enemy team. Just pick whichever page matches best and go from there.

Repeat step one until you have a few champs in every role to play on that you can preform okay on at your target level.
Acquire runes and rune pages for all the champs you have practiced.
Then you are ready.
If you find yourself unable to consistently win but feel you are better than your opponents / team mates, you are approaching (but slightly below) the level you currently belong at. Further progress will be difficult unless you improve.
Remember that 20% of games are un-winable no matter what you do. On the other hand, as long as you are not trying to sabotage your team 20% of games will be won regardless of how you do. How many of the remaining 60% you win will determine how quickly you progress. The percent of games where you do not matter is proven by the player Annie Bot getting a 20% win rate on support while sitting in the bot lane bush all game eating a sandwich back when he was stuck in silver 3.

Wonder how long it will take for me to get here...
I'm never feel like I'm the worst person in any of my games, which is weird considering how inexperienced I am. There's usually 1 maybe 2 people on the other team that give me trouble but I can still hold my own against them when I'm not the support. Sometimes I can still hold my own against them when I am the support. Been noticing that the plat and above ranked players usually give me the most trouble. I won't check that website until after the game. I can usually judge pretty accurately how good/bad a player will be after 5 minutes in game. Or sometimes the load in screen tells me how bad a player is. Like a Teemo running heal/clarity and going mid lane. I'm never that bad.

I played as soon as I hit 30 back in season 3, lost like 70% of the time. But I stopped on my 5th game cause I kept losing. Took a break until next season, playing normals exclusively, went back to ranked, and ended up with ~75% win rate, gold 5. I stopped playing at gold just for the rewards, and now in s5 im in gold 1 after my provisionals to g2

I had about 500 normal wins.

tldr : dont play ranked immediately at 30. Wait till you're at around a 50% win rate in normals with ~500 wins and u should reach high silver/low gold from provisionals

Yeah my situation is that I started this game in March 2012. I played a majority of bots with a few PvP games here and there before hitting 30. Had such a bad experience I stayed away from PvP for a long time. Fast forward three years and 2000+ bot games mixed in with some ARAM games intermittently. From all those bot games I learned a heck of a lot about mechanics and from ARAM I learned how to team fight and play against and with different champions. I actually have a positive win percentage (about 62% now) in ARAM games. Just started to play PvP on summoners rift recently and found out that the players on there are far worse than I recall them being. They make mistakes more often and more obvious than my own. I'm at about 40% win percentage on this account including my early PvP games that I played before hitting level 30. Still I win 2 games for every one game I lose now, so that's something right?
