Does your personality reflect what role you play?

Just a short little survey to find out what everyone's primary role is and what personality type you have. I'm curious to see if there is a correlation between personality traits and role preference.

Disclaimer: I have the exact same thread up in the miscellaneous section too. But some of you I know only populate this section of the forums so this thread is for the ones who only post on the game play section of the boards.

Mediator. I guess that makes sense when I'm using my giant Sion Axe to mediate fights between my ADC and the enemy assassin

FantasySniper4 votes

There's actually quite a lot of mediators. Weird.

Smithney4 votes

I think that can be attributed to the nature of League of Legends as a medium. I'm no psychologist, but from the definition provided to me, I can tell that computer games where a person can help individuals to achieve their goals might seem like INFP's dream from a certain PoV. Especially looking at the support role.

It makes sense that you, as a mediator, are the meatshield between the conflicting sides as well. ;)

To be honnest it's not really about personality and more about how you play the game:

  • If you are a marco player your best roles will be more focussed arround supporting, roaming, etc..
    • Mostly: Jungle, Support or Roaming Mid
  • If you are a mechanical player your best roles will be more focussed arround damage dealers and providing your enemy with the least counterplay as possible.
    • Mostly: Adc and Solo Laners (mid & top)
Earl Eulrich4 votes

though i guess more analytical personalities would end up as makro-players mostly. But yea, i think those two types atually fit lol a lot better than trying to seperate players by roles.

Logician.

I play ZileanBardHeimerdingerZyra , controlling large areas with my abilities, and I am ready to disengage and gtfo whenever it is turning sour.

Auryiel3 votes

Same, except it's more Azir Orianna Zyra

Long range, control over the battlefield and yes, if things turn bad I'd rather save myself and try to use my waveclear to defend the base than feed the enemy team more gold

DEFENDER (ISFJ-T)

No matter my role I tend to sacrifice myself for my friends...even when I am the ADC >.<

Earl Eulrich10 votes

strangly enough i´m a logician and i tend to do exactly the same (though mostly because i expect them to see the same opening for an engage...and it turns out they don´t cough).

INTJ. (The Architect but often referred to as the Mastermind)

I am an ADC main and my favorite champions are MissFortune Caitlyn Twitch Zyra KarmaCassiopeia . INTjs tend to be extremely, extremely independent which is kind of the opposite of the ADC role as it's totally reliant on your team majority of the time.

Would be interesting to find someone with the same personality type as mine, as mine is specifically rare and impossible to fully see my point of view unless you have the same type. Though my personality doesn't fit at all with my playstyle. Funny thing is most of the time INTjs meet each other all we do is argue but nobody really hurts each other's feelings.

I think I'm the only one that got "Adventurer"...

Mains: Kalista , Kennen , Tristana Support: Thresh

"Advocate", INFJ though Intuition & Judging are a bit weak.

Quinn is my main mostly played in top or mid, & occasionally jungle & rarely bot.

Shyvana Lulu Diana Fiora Leona are my other commonly played.

TonyTonyMordecai1 votes

Advocate as well.

I guess lately I've played a lot of Quinn and Poppy... Which makes sense because I like helping my team out by almost always being at every fight with Quinn's ult. Then I like being Poppy because I can jump in and defend my team. And then there's Teemo...

But I'm also intuitive because I like thinking up new ways to play champions, such as Tank Teemo and Teemo Jungle, as well as Blitzcrank Jungle.

nananananacat2 votes

I prefer Jungle, but normally I fill and play every role.

"“THE ADVENTURER” (ISFP-T)"

Do you want to know the percentages it gives too or is that enough?

Milodic Mellodi2 votes

I'm apparently what they call a "INFJ-T" (a diplomat who's introverted, intuitive, feeling, and judging; the T stands for "constant improvement"). I'm what it calls "The Advocate". 82% Introverted, 76% Intuitive, 62% Feeling, 59% Judging, 64% Turbulent I think this fits, because even though I love to ADC I tend to have the most fun and best time as a Support. I love coming up with new ideas for the recipes I build for myself, but I respect that my partner's time in-lane is more important than what I want. I'm pretty passionate about my abilities in a role, and sometimes I can be salty, but I mean best for the rest of my team because that's what counts at the end of the match. That's all I can think of, currently.

I wonder what INFP-a would be. "A" with INFP stands for confident individualism.
I think that would be a Jungler (because of the Mediator part), but one that is decisively trying to be effective. Like a Jarvan jungle, or a Rammus; champions with impact, you know?
Maybe champions with few skill-shots, as reliability affects confidence. So champions like Jarvan, Rammus, Pantheon, Trundle, Warwick, and Xin Zhao --> Fighter Jungle.

Yo, got INFP-A. I actually do prefer fighter junglers, but they're WW, Aatrox, Shyvana, and the like.

gonna be honest, i thought this was complete bullshit, but i did the test and i got INTP and all the other people that commented and said they got INTP play the same kind of champs as me.. spooky

i main support, mostly play champs with tons of CC, teamfight potential, or peel. all about that late game.

Yup, that's part of the reason why I am running this little social experiment to see if there is a correlation or if it is sheer coincidence. Still need a bunch more people to comment in though as some of the Extroverted examples aren't getting a whole lot of representation on here.

Ariel the Cruel1 votes

Just a thought: how drawn are extroverts to online games in general? Since extroversion draws energy from social environments, I would expect them to be under-represented in scenarios where social interaction is marginalized.

BluePolarizer1 votes

I'm an extrovert but I'm a solo queue player since I can't talk and play well at the same time. I don't think it necessarily has to do with social ability.

However I do notice that I constructively type alot (never been punished for anything) in terms of making calls, verbally telling people to back off since some ppl still ignore pings in plat, strategizing, leading the team, saying gj, etc. which I can only realistically do from jungle or support. When I play top it makes me nervous that I have zero impact since I can't make calls, I can't type, I can't make decisions about objectives, I'm isolated and alone, etc. so there's that.

Architect INTJ- A

I main support and jungle. Typically playing ultilty in all roles, which I can do if I have to. I like having lots of CC whatever I am playing.

Nami Braum Nautilus Maokai

It might be an artifact of me just not calling a role quickly, that I am basically forced into support or jungle over time getting better at those roles. Still I like being to observe the whole of the game rather than focused on a single opponent or CS.

The meyer's briggs stuff is obsolete in psycology the use a different system these days, the 6 traits model I believe, this is only slightly above horoscopes, putting personalities into boxes is hard.

A Miss Fortune2 votes

It's a general overview of how a person thinks. It's not often that specific and I believe you have to pay around $70 or €64 to take a more official test that's significantly longer and more accurate. I also am an INTJ and I find most of it just straightforward and nothing really specific.

For example it goes onto describe how INTjs love independence and hate dependent, immature, unconfident people though it never really gets more specific as to why INTjs need independence and why they hate people who are the opposite of that.

Axonn1 votes

After looking around through the comments, I thought I would post mine:

“THE CONSUL” (ESFJ-A) SENTINEL

As for my typical role, I main top tanks, such as Nasus , Maokai, Nautilus and many other champions with the ability to take damage.

I can play other roles relatively well, save for ADC. I don't like being squish.

I mostly do what I can to help out the team, and since I am not the most mechanically savvy player, tanks allow me to accomplish my role. I also am more of an objective-centered player. I will be happy to give up a kill if I can secure a tower, dragon or even Baron. I am not a kill hungry person, just pushing my opponent out of lane is fine by me. As you can see from my preferred champion pool, I try to aim for late game advantage, where my fun begins. I will be happy to provide any other information that you need, if you so need.

Carpe Victoria1 votes

INTJ. Yep get that every time.

"INTJs are defined by their tendency to move through life as though it were a giant chess board, pieces constantly shifting with consideration and intelligence, always assessing new tactics, strategies and contingency plans, constantly outmaneuvering their peers in order to maintain control of a situation while maximizing their freedom to move about."

Someone else said it too but it's more about game play style not role. I could say my result fits me. I like making builds for each game scenario and the whole reason i like mobas is to make 'plays' and whatnot. I enjoy playing heavy cc champs and ahri for her maneuvering but theres a bunch of incredibly straightforward champs like garen that i like too. lol.

Miku Lv991 votes

INTP-T. I'm the kind of player that has one of the best macro but one of the worst micros around. And I'm way better at support than anything else.

INFP-A (The first four letters are super locked down (80-90% for each letter), A and T kind of flip flop (52% for A))

I don't really have a main, and I play almost every champ in the game, but I enjoy jungle, top and mid. I enjoy champs that can just get onto people and fight them, or that can "outplay" people through whatever means they do. Darius, Poppy, Yorick, Teemo, Jhin, Kat, Ahri, Galio (one of my new favorite champs), WW, Lulu, etc.

I don't play braindead clickers for the most part. I play mostly skillshot champs.

INFP-T... my role changes every month. Right now, mid and jungle.

Baka Red1 votes

Your personality type is: Advocate (INFJ-a)

I only play ARAMs, but my preferred roles/champions are non-mobile ADCs (Jhin, Sivir, MF etc), AoE DPS mages (Karthus, Sol) and Simple to use Tanks (Singed, Garen, Blitz etc). Poke mages (Ziggs, Xerath, Velkoz) work okay for me, but oh please the Gods of randomness, please don't force me play Assassins (I suck with those)! I also don't do well with combo mages like Annie, Lux, Brand and the like, so I try to avoid those. I guess I like playing some supports too (Janna only really. I often turn Lulu (& LB) into ADC role)

Eh, 2 years old thread. Well, since it has already necroed, I guess it doen't matter. Besides, the subject doesn't get old, I guess.

Aerial Queen Liz1 votes

INTJ, The Architect. Mostly playing ADC or Mid...I do plan how to play every lane or teamfight right in champ select but I dunno if any ADC would fit my personality better...
