Level 1 heal vs poke

So as Sona I'm pretty set on taking Q first, then W, then leveling Q then W with a point in E at 4.

As Nami, I really prefer taking W first, and maxing it first, with Q at 2 and E at 4. I tend to max Q second which probably makes me a baddie since E is probably supposed to be second.

For Soraka, I think Q is kind of weak leveled first because its self-heal on champion hit isn't active until there is a point in W. I also like maxing W first, Q second, and E last, with a point at 4 as always.

For Nami there's really no way I'm taking Q first since W provides heal and poke, even though Q is better for the leash. For Sona, it's more optimal to me to take Q first because its range is so extreme that it should zone the enemies away from the ally adc and prevent them from getting poked too bad before level 2.

On Soraka I'm wondering if it would make me a total nooblet to take W first and Q at 2?

as Soraka i max Q-W-E. I start Q and use it to zone their adc while aa harrassing a lot so we can hit 2 first. The damage on her Q gets pretty serious and is really easy to hit if you drop it on their adc when they step up to last hit, it's range is huge so you can harrass with it while taking zero poke back. I'm just not a fan of the Max W, stand back, and let your adc 1v2 while healing them and occasionally dropping E/Q. An aggressive soraka will usually throw off your enemy laners and make them worry about the harrass/sustain you provide while forgetting about your adc that is practically free farming. She becomes an exception to the "focus adc" rule and can really throw your enemies off their game. If your starcall only has 1 point in it though, your poke becomes ignorable and they really just have to do damage faster than you cal heal. Leaving you low on mana and health and leaving them free to re-engage whenever they please.

Alsosummoner 13 summoner 13 summoner 13 is highly underrated on soraka in my opinion. Runningsummoner 13 summoner 3 can leave you at a huge advantage as long as your positioning is great, it's pretty easy to avoid ganks and all ins if you really know how to use your E.

I personally think that Q is better for level 1, sure the heal on champion hit component isn't active, but I think of it the same way as with Sona. if Sona were to take W first, she'd have no presence except healing damage, it's the same thing with Soraka.

The reason you push for the poke first is because as a support, you want to bully around the enemy ADC as much as possible to try and prevent them from CSing, get them away from experience, maybe even kill them if the opportunity presents itself.

It doesn't make you a total nooblet at all. I always take/max W first and harass with auto attacks. They attack me, I just pot. They attack my ADC, I heal them. The enemy still loses the trade.

I don't see a point in going oom early by throwing out weak, dodge-able Qs. And if your ADC gets harassed and zoned at level 1, you just let yourselves lose lane... defeating the purpose of picking Soraka, which is to out-sustain their trades and let your ADC free farm.

In the end it's about playing in the way that you're comfortable with. There's not really a "wrong" way, and your strategy can vary depending on the experience of your ally/enemy ADC.

You play them as I do. Only difference is that I take Q first as Nami and max W first.

Here is the thing. Taking Q and W essentially steers you in a certain path.

In AP Soraka paths I would absolutely level Q because the ap makes your W scale without points. Q is very good damage if you do land the sweet spot - this is very important imo.

As a resistances Soraka I would take W because Q deals less damage. You don't always have to poke as Soraka.

I would take a point in W, then max Q adding another point in W somewhere along the way to increase the heal a bit. That way your adc can keep poking knowing that there'll be a heal waiting if hp gets low.

So here is the deal, W is much stronger at level 1. Specially if you have hp5 runes and potions. As long as you position right, your adc is unkillable.

However, Soraka's level 2 is even stronger. And it's crucial that she reach it before (or at least at the same time as) her opponents. So if their adc have a better clear, or if the enemy support have any idea how bad a level 2 soraka can turn, they will damage the minion wave faster and you need to compensate. That's why you need starcall to push the wave (then you heal the third melee minion on their side and poke them to death while they are stuck at level 1 until your minions hit their tower).

Then i prefer maxing Q first, but it's likely because i start with enough mana (item 1027 summoner 13+mediation) to really be aggressive with it. You might max W instead ?

Soraka: take Q lvl 1, W/E lvl 2 (depending in your needs) then the one you didn't take, and then max Q first. mana cost on Q level 1 - level 5 is only 20 more, but the damage increase is very big. I max Q>W>E

Q first on Sona always as you said.

W first on Nami unless you're invading/got invaded and needed the bubble.

Q first on Soraka imo (don't really play her) for the poke.
