Instead of deleting threads

Can you mods just move them to the correct forum? It can still give a notice that it was in the wrong place.

From what I understand, there's a technical limitation to moving threads on the Boards. Edit: Not a technical limitation, restricted by guidelines.

Personally, I think it's a bit odd that a communication platform doesn't have the ability to move content (which has been the staple of forums since like...forever), and it's strange to me that this isn't even really discussed much.

I'm on the team that builds the Boards and Boards features, and the tech isn't an issue.

This is a guidelines thing, which is managed by the Community folks. They have reasons for not moving posts.

Hello there sizzleflap! Thanks for the correction, I'll keep that in mind.

Is this something that can be discussed with the community team, even just to gain a better understanding of the reasoning behind the lack of this functionality? Historically, requests for moving rather than deletion have been some of the most discussed topics regarding the management of this platform.

I chatted with both my team and the community team and while we have the tech, it was broken a while back, and will require some work to fix. (So we both were right... kinda). So Community technically couldn't move posts. IIRC, a while after the release of the new Boards, we stopped moving posts to allow content to stabilize, but I'm not entirely sure (I wasn't on the team at that time). I CAN tell you I've brought this issue back up and hopefully we'll see what we can do about the move-posts tech.

Much appreciated! From interaction with the previous community team I got the feeling they had no interest in developing/utilizing move functionality, it's interesting to see how this perception has/may have shifted.

By stabilize, do you mean allowing threads to settle into their respective board niches? I would have expected that moving threads and informing the playerbase thereof would actually allow stabilization to happen faster than deleting content when it's not correct, but I suppose that was determined not to be the case.

Back when the boards was in it's youth, after you made these roles, you also created/re purposed certain elements, which meant that threads that were added to the correct sub board at the time, was suddenly in the wrong one, those threads were deleted, despite being relevant, and NOT in violation of your rules at the time, in my opinion that totally sucked.

Anywho somewhat out of context in regards to moving threads compared to deleting them. Right now over in the help section, it can be somewhat daunting/hard to tell if the threads are unattended, receiving help or already resolved, seeing as you're part of the team that's working on boards, is there any possible solution you could come up with that would help us organizing and streamlining the process of players helping players?

Wasn't their reasoning because they thought people wouldn't try to post in the right boards, and just let the modes sweat the work?

This was one of the reasons the old community team gave, and to my knowledge quite a few people in the community called BS on that reasoning.
