Laning as Twisted Fate

Every time I try to play TF (mid) I'm reminded how bad all of his matchups are and how he loses every lane unless played perfectly. Someone help. Please. I'm starting to feel like TF isn't worth a pick at all.

There is definitely a large skill curve but he is by no means bad. You'll lose with just about any champ if you don't play them right. If you say "I'm not having any luck with TF, so I think I'll just pick a new champion" then you're not going to find a champ that comes right out of the box ready to pwn newbs. Every champ has an weakness that can be exploited and mastering that champ requires you to overcome that weakness.

The problem with TF is just about everyone knows his weaknesses, so when learning TF, the difficulty curve is so steep that it curls back to an overhang.

I think Twisted Fate is more of a passive/sustain laner than a "lane-winner". Because of your ult, you are more of a team player and benefit from roaming to other lanes where the fights will be in your favor. I don't play much Twisted Fate, but the ones I've seen are constantly out of lane and usually act as kind of a second jungler (not that they farm from the jungle, but that they gank often) once they reach level 6.

Your goal on TF is not to out right win the lane and bash your opponent's face in, but to provide global presence post-6 to help ganks and secure objetives. By raoming with your ult, you can and should pick up a lot of assists if not kills bringing you the necessary gold to trade in for more items. More items = more damage = more kills = snow ball.

TF doesnt need to win lane. He just needs to gank with his ult and apply pressure. You just need to cs and survive

I usually push my lane hard with reds and geting my mana back with blue cards + dorans ring. This only works if you know how to read if a jungler is heading your way and if you know how to dodge giving kills to ganks. Once you hit 6 though you should red card a few waves and gank EVERY SINGLE TIME with your ult. I see TF's who wont ult post-6 because they want secure kills but TF is about setting your teammates up to win lane. Losing mid turret means nothing if you have a top or bot lane that's snowballing because chances are the enemy mid laner isn't gonna be fed to out carry your teammates. Also rush athenes (vs ap mid) or morellos (vs ad mid).
